Last week, we held our Annual General Meeting — and what a gathering it was. Thank you so much to everyone who joined us, whether in person or online. It meant a lot to see so many familiar faces and hear your thoughts, questions, and support for what’s ahead.

The photo above was taken by Laura, our brilliant Volunteer Coordinator, and it really captures the spirit of the day. We’re so grateful for every one of you who makes Outlookers what it is.

Onwards together — and thank you again. 💙

Shout out to the incredible Alison, Fatiha, and Mandy from Huddersfield – three of our golden girls! 🌟

With everything usually in full swing, it’s rare to catch our volunteers standing still – so when we did, we had to capture the moment. A huge thank you to these three and to every single one of our volunteers. Your dedication, energy, and heart make all the difference, week in, week out. 💛

Recently the Huddersfield group started the day in the best way — with a hands-on clay session full of creativity, chat, and concentration! 🎨

A big thank you to Julie Bagwash for coming in and leading the session — we’re so grateful you gave your time so freely. You’ve taken the creations back to fire them in the kiln, and we’re really looking forward to you bringing them back later this month so everyone can paint their pieces and take them home.

Here’s a photo from the morning — such a warm and lively start to the day. We’ll be sharing more as the finished pieces come together. 💙

We’re not going to pretend it’s easy out there — times are tough, and every small lift counts. At Outlookers, we’ve come this far thanks to our brilliant volunteers, the people who call in or join us for a Hill visit, and every single person who’s given what they can, big or small.

But there’s another way to help — one that takes just a few seconds. If you believe in what we do, could you like our page and share this post with someone you know in Kirklees?

You don’t need to give money to make a difference. A like, a share, or a quick tag helps us reach more blind and partially sighted people who might be struggling — and reminds them they’re not on their own.

Thank you for being part of this. 💙

Plus one: we’re proud to host a number of local visually impaired support groups across Kirklees, and it’s always a pleasure to welcome third-party organisations to join us. Recently, the Dewsbury group was joined by Keeley Maloney from Community Plus, who took time to chat and connect with members. The photo shows Keeley sitting towards the end of the table, enjoying a warm and lively conversation. It’s these connections that help build confidence, community and opportunity—great to have you with us, Keeley!

We were delighted to welcome Sarah Wells from the Pennine Line Partnership to Dewsbury recently! 🚆 Sarah joined us to engage with members of our group who may not usually travel by train, helping to promote accessible and inclusive rail travel for all.

It was fantastic to see her in conversation with our members, listening to their experiences and sharing how we can make journeys easier and more welcoming.

Proud to be working together for better connectivity. 👏
