πŸ’›Beaconbridge Secondary Breast Cancer Support Group πŸ’›
On Friday 16.10.2026, the Beaconbridge Support Group came together at the Macmillan Support and Information Centre, 77 - 81 Lisburn Road, Belfast for a special time of remembrance, honouring friends from the Beaconbridge sisterhood who are sadly no longer with them.
They planted daffodil bulbs and shared memories of their friends, celebrating their friendships, laughter and special moments they will always hold dear.
A lovely way to remember those who will always be part of their sisterhood. πŸ’›πŸŒΌπŸŒΌ

Today marks Metastatic (Secondary) Breast Cancer Awareness Day.

And while most breast cancers don’t come back after treatment, it’s important to know the signs and symptoms in case they do.

Speak to your GP or breast care nurse if you have any new symptoms that:

Are new or unusual for you

Don't have an obvious cause

Don't go away

Find out more information about the signs and symptoms of metastatic breast cancer.

🧢A big thank you to Liz and our Knit and Natter ladies! πŸ’š
Liz from our Knit and Natter Group knitted a mascot for the Dunmurry Golf Club Bombay Ducks, who very generously donated Β£700 in return! πŸ¦†β›³
Our group has donated Β£350 to Friends of the Cancer Centre (FOCC), with the remaining funds going to other local charities.
FOCC provides invaluable support to the Macmillan Support and Information Centre, funding our tea and coffee station as well as funding the Pilates, Yoga and Tai Chi classes at the Centre. We are incredibly grateful for their continued support. πŸ’š

As we prepare to mark World Mental Health Day this Saturday 10th October, the 'Feeling Anxious' campaign is a helpful resource for helping understand and manage anxiety πŸ’š

Anxiety is something that affects many of us. In Northern Ireland almost 1 in five adults has a potential mental health problem and anxiety is a common experience for many people.

Looking after our mental health is not just something we should only do when we are feeling down; it’s something we should proactively maintain, just like our physical health πŸ§˜β€β™€οΈ

🧢 Could you help our Knit and Natter Group? 🧢
Our wonderful Knit and Natter ladies are always busy creating beautiful knitted and crocheted items, which they sell to raise money for charity.
We would be delighted to receive donations of knitted or crocheted items, as well as any leftover balls of wool, yarn or craft materials that you may have at home and no longer need. No donation is too small - those odd balls of wool could become something beautiful ! 🧢✨
If you have anything you'd like to donate you can drop it into the Macmillan Support and Information Centre, 77 - 81 Lisburn Road, Belfast (opened Monday to Friday) or Macmillan Support and Information, 2nd Floor, Royal Victoria Hospital (opened Monday, Wednesday and Thursday).
Thank you so much for supporting our Knit and Natter group.

Taking Our Support Out and About πŸ’š
It was lovely to be out and about at Queen's University Belfast on Tuesday 22.09.2026, where the Belfast Trust Cancer Support Services team hosted an information stand to raise awareness of the support and services available to people affected by cancer.
We had a lovely morning meeting people, sharing information and chatting about the support available through our services. We really enjoyed being part of the event and connecting with the QUB community.
If you'd like to find out more about the support available, please call into the Macmillan Support and Information Centre 77 - 81 Lisburn Road Belfast - our team will be happy to help.
