If you and your baby are experiencing continuing feeding difficulties, help is at hand at Carmenta Life in Berkhamsted.

Julie can perform an oral assessment – an evidence-based detailed assessment for tongue tie (restrictive frenulum) and tongue function. An assessment is always performed prior to a tongue tie division (frenulotomy).

Tongue-tie is a congenital condition where the membrane that attaches the tongue to the floor of the mouth (the frenulum) is shorter or tighter than usual. This may cause restriction of tongue movement and make it difficult for your baby to feed.

Julie Carden, is a qualified and experienced Tongue-tie Practitioner, IBCLC Lactation Consultant, Registered General Nurse with additional advanced Certificate in Special and Intensive Care of the Newborn, as part of her Higher Diploma in Midwifery Studies.

If you've got an unsettled baby, try the tiger or leopard in the tree hold. It's comforting and enables you to stand and move (parent bobbing optional 😊).

For more free tips to settle your baby and help with breastfeeding, you're always welcome to the breastfeeding café. Just drop in 1.30-3pm on Thursdays and either Cathy (midwife) or Julie (lactation consultant) will be there to support you.

Looking for breastfeeding support? Come to our free feeding café held every Thursday at Carmenta Life Medical & Wellbeing Centre from 1.30-3pm.

This drop-in session is run by our midwife and lactation consult team, Cathy and Julie, and is a friendly space to feed amongst other local mums all on the journey with you.

Whether you need help with latch, position, supply or comfort, this is a judgement-free place to get the breastfeeding help you deserve.

No need to book. You'll find us just behind St Peter's Church in Berkhamsted.
