So, pigmentation that shows up in your 40s and 50s is one of the most common skin changes I see in clinic.
It is not something you need to hide or feel embarrassed about. You are beautiful as you are.
But I understand that when those deeper patches start appearing, particularly on the cheeks, forehead and upper lip, you might feel like your skin no longer reflects how vibrant you feel inside.
Here is the three-step plan I use with my clients in this age group:
1. In-clinic treatments
We start with targeted treatments that work beneath the surface. I often combine skin peels with laser therapy, spaced carefully over several months. These are not quick fixes. They are part of your skin journey, and we go slowly, adjusting as your skin responds.
2. At-home skincare
between clinic visits, your routine at home does the daily work. I recommend medical-grade vitamin C serums in the morning and a gentle retinol at night. SPF 50 every single day, even when it is cloudy, even in winter. This is not negotiable if you want to protect the progress we are making together.
3. Realistic expectations and patience
pigmentation that has developed over years does not disappear in weeks. I have heard you when you say you want visible improvement, and I am moving on with a plan that respects your skin's natural pace. We review progress every four to six weeks, and I adjust the plan based on what your skin is telling us.
Throughout treatment journeys and packages, it is never one treatment and it is done. We go on a skin journey together.
Which step are you currently focusing on? Save this for your skin journey.
