This weekend lots of information around youth development and the concerns around physical activity and the current health of the next generation.
The concerns around chronic health into adulthood ,NHS and CAMHS
I remember seeing a report in 2010 when it raised concerns and now it is recorded as severe.
Data from the JSNA and the councils creating an Active Birmingham strategy
1) 41.6% young individuals not reaching 60 mins daily activity.
2) Young individuals have low self esteem and social isolation.
3) 26% increase in absences in secondary schools in Birmingham.
4) New WHO report on child obesity.
We can concentrate on what we see or go deeper when it comes to youth development and how they function.
Nutrition is important when it comes to youth development as it promotes muscle movement.
Muscle system produces the pulling motion for movement and we have 650 in the skeletal.
They all need nutrition to promote the following.
Stability , heat generator, nutrition storage and movement.
Young individuals gain 💪 different to adults ,adults have to train specifically for that purpose.
Young individuals grows automatically... Hypertrophy due to nutrition, myogenic development of tissue and neurogenic due to neurons in the brain strength can be increased.
The energy system requires good nutrition Carbohydrates - Glycogen for muscle and Glucose for the brain.
So carbohydrate consumption is important to look at
🌾oats.
🥔 Sweet potatoes.
🍚 Brown rice.
🌾 Whole grains.
Why it is important we look at good nutrition when it comes to youth development and growth spurts as they can also mirror poor mental health like low self esteem and anxiety.
