Whoops - we missed ! 🌏

50% of the population will experience menopause, but how much do you know about it? Learning more can help you make informed decisions about medical care, support your loved ones and reduce long-term health risks.

We have created 48 accessible menopause videos for deaf and hard of hearing communities. With British Sign Language (BSL), subtitles and audio included, these resources help you understand what happens during menopause, the symptoms, treatment options and much more!

To watch these videos, visit our Information Library https://www.bid.org.uk/resources/menopause-resources/ and please share with anyone who could benefit from knowing this information πŸ™‚

Thank you to University of Wolverhampton for their research which started this project, and to Holland & Barrett for support with funding.

⚠ Trigger warning: Domestic Abuse (physical) ⚠

Physical abuse is an intentional behaviour that causes injury or pain to another person through physical force.

Some examples: slapping, punching, pushing, biting, throwing things at you or burning you.

How can spot signs of physical abuse in someone else?
Β· They can't explain why the injuries happened, or their story changes
Β· You notice repeated injuries like cuts, bruises, burns or black eyes
Β· You notice marks like a bite mark or cigarette burn

Domestic abuse is never okay and should not be accepted as a "normal" part of your relationship.

If you need support, please contact our teams https://www.bid.org.uk/contact-us/
We can help refer you to The Deaf Health Charity SignHealth, or you can refer yourself by visiting their website https://signhealth.org.uk/with-deaf-people/domestic-abuse/

Not sure if you are in an abusive relationship? Try their quiz (all questions and information available in BSL) https://signhealth.org.uk/with-deaf-people/domestic-abuse/quiz-are-you-in-an-abusive-relationship/

Our BSL (British Sign Language) level 2 group had their final exam last night! We have our fingers crossed for their results 🀞

It seemed to be a really close knit group, with people making some great connections 🀝

Thank you to each and every one of you for signing up to this course and working hard to learn BSL and help to breakdown communication barriers ❀️

Please visit our website www.bid.org.uk/all-training to register your interest for upcoming courses!
