📊 September at Shore Medical

Our teams provided 22,473 appointments, processed 40,689 prescriptions and took 5,394 blood samples last month.

However, 1,011 appointments were missed — our highest did-not-attend (DNA) rate since January. Each missed appointment is an opportunity to help another patient waiting for care.

With our seasonal vaccination campaign now underway, some missed appointments may have been for vaccinations. If you have had your vaccine at a pharmacy or elsewhere please let us know and cancel any vaccination appointment you have booked with us so someone else can use it.

Whatever your appointment is for, if you can no longer attend, please cancel as early as possible.

Our regular training and team meeting time is an important opportunity for our staff to develop their knowledge, share learning, discuss improvements and work together as a team. This dedicated time helps us continue to improve the care and service we provide to our patients. 💙

Flu and COVID-19 can cause serious illness, particularly for older people, young children and those with certain health conditions. Vaccination helps top up your protection, reduces your risk of becoming severely unwell and can help prevent hospital admissions.

By getting vaccinated, you’re also helping to protect vulnerable people in our community and reduce pressure on NHS services during the busy winter months.

💬 Your feedback matters to us

In August, we received an incredible 1,149 responses to our Friends and Family Test, with 95% of patients rating their experience as good or very good.

We’re delighted to see so many lovely comments about the friendly, efficient and compassionate care provided by our teams across Shore Medical. We’ll make sure your kind words are shared with our staff, who work incredibly hard to support our patients every day.

August was another incredibly busy month across our practices, with thousands of patient contacts taking place in lots of different ways — from appointments and prescriptions to blood tests, home visits and online requests.

Every number on this graphic represents a patient who needed support from one of our teams.

One figure we’d really like to bring attention to is the 791 appointments that were missed without being cancelled. Even when plans change at the last minute, letting us know means we may be able to offer that appointment to somebody else.

Thank you to our patients for continuing to work with us, and to all of our Shore Medical teams for everything that goes on behind the scenes to keep our services running each day.
