SEND and You provides the SENDIAS service for Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire. Our helpline is open Monday-Friday, 9.30am-4.30pm.

SENDIAS stands for 'Special Educational Needs and Disability Information, Advice and Support'. Our Information, Advice and Support Line is available 9.30 am - 4.30 pm, weekdays, all year round (answerphone at all other times) 0117 9897725. If you have any concerns or worries about your child's SEN provision call us! Although we are a confidential Information, Advice and Support service, any comments you make on our page will not be confidential as it is a social media platform. Bristol drop-in for Special Educational Needs and Disability Advice for Parents/Carers in South Bristol.

With SEND And You and Parent Carers

🗓 Date: Thursday 5th November 2026
📍 Location: Symes Resource Centre, Peterson Avenue, Hartcliffe, BS13 0BE

The session is from 12:30-2pm and will be with our trained SEND practitioner. No need to book, just turn up!

We can provide advice and support on education issues such as SEN support in schools, EHCPs, exclusions, your legal rights and signposting to other helpful services. We can also provide a listening ear and support from the Parent Carer Forum.

Annual Review- views of the Child or Young Person

Annual Reviews should be person centred.

Schools and local authorities should ensure that the child or young person has the support they need to give their views.

They can use written contributions, recordings, videos, PowerPoint or pictures.

Annual Review- decision to amend or change the plan

If the Local Authority decides to change the EHCP, it should start the process of amendment without delay.

The LA must:

send a copy of the EHCP to the parents or young person with notice of proposed amendments and any evidence.

inform the parent/young person of their rights to make representations about the content of the EHCP and to request a particular school/institution.

The parent or young person has 15 calendar days to make representations about the changes.

An updated EHCP will then be issued.

If the parent or young person disagrees with the changes, they will be given a right to make an appeal to the SEND Tribunal once the EHCP is finalised.

No matter what the Local Authority decide, it must write to you with its decision and reasons for it, within four weeks of the review meeting.
