🧠 Do you support children and young people with toileting issues, particularly those with additional needs?

How much do you know about interoception and the role it plays in toilet training?

Interoception is often described as our eighth sense. It helps us recognise and interpret signals from inside our bodies, including hunger, digestion, breathing, a full bladder, and the need to poo. For many children, especially those with additional needs, developing these body awareness skills can be an important part of achieving toileting milestones.

Join Occupational Therapist Tabitha Poole for this specialist ERIC training course designed for healthcare professionals, Interoception and Sensory Challenges with Toileting, and gain valuable insights into how interoception influences continence and child development.

✅ Understand what interoception is and how it relates to toileting and child development
✅ Learn the importance of goal setting and outcome measurement
✅ Explore assessment tools and treatment approaches available to practitioners
✅ Critically examine the current evidence, including barriers and facilitators to effective assessment and treatment.

This course is ideal for healthcare professionals looking to strengthen their knowledge and confidence when supporting children and young people with additional needs and toileting difficulties.

🗓️ 3 November, 1pm and 9 November, 3.30pm

✅ Learn how to help parents, teachers and caregivers develop an empathic approach to implementing a toileting plan for children who feel anxious around the toilet.
✅Understand why conventional approaches, such as rewards, may not work as a motivator to use the toilet for all children.
✅Gain practical strategies for helping children who feel anxious around toileting achieve their toileting goals, through a regulation-based approach.

📚 Enhance your knowledge and help children feel more confident when using the toilet.
