Grateful for some colour back in the garden 🪴

See my post about my dairy suppliers and my attempts at soft cheese making.

I made feta for my Greek salads and homegrown peppers 🫑 tomato 🍅 and cucumber 🥒 as well as halloumi which was delicious fried in a bit of oil from my tahini jar and sesame seeds.

The Cream cheese was fabulous in a creamy sauce over pumpkin ravioli and crispy sage.

I’ve been really enjoying the berries and figs from Riverford and their stone fruits back in the summer in desserts 🍨. I’ve been making knickerbokerglories and Sundaes with ice cream and cream from Moor Taw and yoghurt from Hall Farm Dartmoor

I love how these two have cuddled up tonight - Grace and her calf, Hunter. I can’t believe he is over 3 months old now - this autumn seems to have flown past.

It’s so important to our cows and their calves to have this time together - I know it’s frustrating if you’re waiting for a milk order or if we’re a bit short in the shop on occasion, but try telling these guys that they aren’t important! 😂

If I had a magic wand I’d change a few things in our dairy (a bigger shed and more cows and more processing room to start with of course 😉) but cow with calf dairying is the hill I’d always choose to take my last stand on.

Buying milk from our dairy makes a real difference and not just to the cows and their calves, but to the food system as a whole. Vote for the world you want with every £ you spend!
