Ask Anglia CPR? How do I help someone who is choking? Choking most commonly happens at mealtimes, or for younger children during play activities, when they are learning to explore and gain information about the world around them. Choking is silent. Call 999 early and get familiar or refresh your knowledge on how to spot and treat choking across all age groups in our latest post.

What we've been up to in September 💜🧡
September has definitely been a planning a preparation month!
With the start of the new term, we worked with a number of school and nursery staff. There was a particular request for refreshing skills in recognising and treating choking across all the age groups from infants to adults.
We also extended our support and sponsorship of one of our local community defibrillators. This will ensure that funds are available when the time comes to replace the pads and battery, so that the AED remains accessible and available should it be needed. I had a lovely afternoon out with my horse riding friends to World Horse Welfare in Snetterton. And finally...I've been undertaking a non first aid and cpr related training course....all will be shared in good time.

CPR or Recovery Position? Let's just keep it simple.
🔸Any casualty who is unresponsive and who is not breathing normally (gasping, sighing, panting or laboured breathing), is in cardiac arrest. Call 999 and start CPR. 🔸A casualty who is unresponsive but breathing normally can be placed on their side in the recovery position to keep their airway open. Note, place all pregnant people on their left side to promote blood flow to both parent and baby.

Which First Aid Course Do You Need? 💜🧡

Choosing the right qualification or knowing which training you need can be a challenge. Sometimes, the level of training is directed by our professional and regulatory body requirements, or because of the setting we work in, e.g. an early years setting where the standard by Osfted is a full paediatric first aid course.

A first aid needs assessment is often a good place to start, supporting you to look at factors including, staffing, location, and the likelihood of specific injuries and accidents.
Don't forget that we have a consultancy service and can help you to find a course that most meets your needs.
