What Changes in the Second Half of 2026? Water, Fire and Dryness
So what changes after Major Heat?

In the second half of the year, the dominant influence begins to shift. We move from Shaoyin Sovereign Fire governing Heaven (少陰君火司天) in the first half towards Yangming Dry Metal residing below (陽明燥金在泉) in the latter half of the year.

However, the year's Excessive Water Movement remains, and we are still within the broader background of the Nine Purple Fire Period.

So as we move into autumn and winter, it is not simply a matter of “Dryness.”
Instead, Water, Fire and Dryness overlap and interact.

From the traditional Wu Yun Liu Qi perspective, this may correspond to more complex and changeable climatic conditions:
Periods of dampness may be followed by dryness.
Lingering warmth may give way to sudden cold.
The shifts between heat and cold, and dampness and dryness, are therefore worth paying attention to.

For our health, as we move into autumn and winter, people with existing cardiovascular conditions should be particularly mindful of sudden changes in temperature.

We should also pay greater attention to the Lungs and respiratory system, as well as seasonal infections, particularly among older adults, children and those who may be more physically vulnerable.

Wu Yun Liu Qi is not a substitute for modern weather forecasting. It is a traditional Chinese framework for observing the relationship between changes in the natural environment and human health.

We can look back and reflect on what has already happened in the first half of the year.
As we move through the second half, what matters is being prepared for change.
As the Qi of Heaven and Earth changes, we too need to learn how to adapt.

有時濕,有時燥;

上半年發生了什麼,我們已經可以回頭看;

🔥 **You Can’t Choose What Kind of Era You Live In, but You Can Choose How Your Body Prepares for the Fire of the Next 20 Years**
The goal isn’t to avoid the “Fire,” but to build enough strength and resilience to protect your Yin, fluids, calm, and balance.
📍 **First: Regular, Restorative Sleep Is More Important Than Any Supplement**
Regular, restorative sleep helps preserve Yin and support the body’s natural rhythm. Staying up late may seem harmless, but over time it can drain your reserves — like keeping the fire burning while the water slowly runs dry.
📍 **Second: Reduce Excessive Heat and Protect the Body’s Fluids**
Spicy foods, heavy grilling, and excessive alcohol may add more “heat.” Pears, tremella, and lily bulb are traditionally used to nourish Yin and moisten dryness.
📍 **Third: Give Your Nervous System a Chance to Truly “Cool Down”**
Deep breathing, mindfulness, walking, Tai Chi, and yoga can help us step away from constant stimulation and return to a calmer rhythm.
**In an era of Fire, knowing how to slow down is itself a form of self-protection.**
📍 **Fourth: Emotional Cultivation Is, at Its Core, Part of Health Management**
Anger, suppression, and chronic stress can disturb the balance of Qi, Blood, Yin, and Yang. Learning to let go, step back, and not be disturbed by every external event is also health preservation.

# # # 🧠 **In Short|

Over these 20 years, it may not be the person who pushes hardest who goes furthest — but the one who knows how to protect what Fire consumes most easily:

Why Have We Seen So Many Floods and Wildfires in 2026? A TCM View of “Water and Fire in Conflict”

So far in 2026, we have seen a striking contrast in weather patterns around the world.
Some regions have experienced heavy rainfall and flooding, while others have faced extreme heat, drought and wildfires.
On one side, there is Water.
On the other, there is Fire.

Why can such contrasting conditions occur within the same year?

From the perspective of Wu Yun Liu Qi (五運六氣), the traditional framework of the Five Movements and Six Qi, we need to look at several different influences together.
We are currently within the broader Nine Purple Fire Period At the same time, 2026 is a Bing-Wu (丙午) year, associated in this framework with Excessive Water Movement (水運太過). During the first half of the year, Shaoyin Sovereign Fire governs Heaven

In simple terms:
The greater cycle brings Fire.
The annual movement brings Water.
And the first half of the year is governed by Sovereign Fire.

From the traditional Wu Yun Liu Qi perspective, this creates one of the distinctive themes of the first half of 2026:
an interaction between Water and Fire.

Here, “the first half of the year” does not refer to January through June in the modern calendar. In Wu Yun Liu Qi, the year is divided according to the traditional seasonal cycle. In 2026, the transition occurs around Dashu (大暑, Major Heat), around 23 July.

Looking back at the period before Major Heat, we have already seen seemingly opposite climatic conditions occurring in different places: heavy rainfall and flooding in some regions, alongside extreme heat, drought and wildfires in others.

Traditional Chinese medicine emphasises the relationship between Heaven, Earth and humanity —

When the natural environment undergoes significant changes, the human body also has to adapt to changes in temperature, climate and fluid balance.

From the perspective of Wu Yun Liu Qi, this period is therefore worth paying particular attention to the Heart, Kidneys and cardiovascular health.
In the first half of the year, the theme has been the interaction between Water and Fire.

So what happens after Major Heat?

A small comment suddenly irritates you.
A minor disagreement feels much bigger than it should.
Something you used to tolerate now makes you snap.
You may not be “losing control.”
You may simply be reaching your limit.

And you may find yourself wondering:
“Why am I reacting like this?”
The truth is, emotional outbursts rarely begin in that moment.
The explosion may happen in seconds.
But the pressure has often been building for much longer.
So before you blame yourself for being “too emotional,”
ask yourself:
Are you actually losing control — or has your emotional threshold already become too low?
This is why, in the Fire Era, you may notice:
🔥 Arguments escalate faster
🔥 Patience runs out sooner
🔥 Things you once tolerated suddenly become unbearable
Fire does not make you bad.
It can make self-control harder to maintain.
And when your emotional threshold is already low,
even a small spark can feel like a fire.
🧠 One-sentence takeaway:
The person who can stay calm when emotions rise is the person least likely to become a victim of the Fire Era.

Have you noticed yourself becoming more impatient lately?🔥
A small comment annoys you. A minor inconvenience suddenly feels unbearable. You lose your temper faster than before.
It may not simply be that your temper has changed.
The impact of the Fire Era is not limited to wildfires, explosions, or accidents. It can also affect something much closer to us: our emotions.
Modern research shows that high temperatures, sleep deprivation, and chronic stress can reduce emotional resilience.
Traditional Chinese Medicine described this pattern long ago.
When Heart Fire rises, people become restless and emotionally unsettled.
When Liver Fire rises, irritability and anger become more easily triggered.
During the Fire Era, external heat can continually fuel the Fire within.
Add late nights, pressure, and emotional strain, and it becomes like adding wood to an already burning furnace.
And when that fire keeps building, it doesn’t always look like anger.
Sometimes it’s impatience. Sometimes anxiety. Sometimes overreacting.
And when everyone’s Fire is burning a little hotter, conflicts become easier to ignite.
One person’s emotional imbalance may seem like a small matter. But when it happens again and again, across more and more people, it can eventually escalate into a **man-made crisis**.
🧠 **In short:**
The first Fire you need to manage is not the fire outside you. It’s the fire within you.
Before asking, “Why is everyone becoming so difficult?”
Perhaps ask yourself:
**“Is my own fire burning too strongly?”**
👉 Next:
Why do some people suddenly lose control under pressure, while others remain calm?
What determines that emotional tipping point?

The Li Fire Period: The Real Challenge Is Maintaining Stability
Throughout this series, we explored more than individual diseases.

We looked at:
• Changing disease patterns
• The concept of Fire-related patterns
• Fever and inflammation
• The difference between mild and severe illness
• The gradual loss of body resilience

The deeper question behind all of these is:
How can the human body remain stable in a changing world?

From a TCM perspective, health is influenced by the interaction between:
🌍 The external environment
🦠 Disease-causing factors
💪 The body’s regulatory ability

The Li Fire Period does not mean that disease will simply increase.

Rather, it invites us to reflect:
When the world changes faster, can we still maintain our internal balance?

The future challenge may not only be about avoiding viruses.
It may be about protecting our ability to recover, adapt, and remain stable.

Because true health is not the absence of all storms.
It is the ability to remain steady through them.

保持恢復能力;
維持調節能力;

In a changing environment, the goal is not to avoid every challenge.
The more important question is:
Does the body still have the ability to adapt and recover?

In TCM, “Zheng Qi” (正氣) is not simply about never getting sick.
It refers to the body’s overall ability to maintain balance.

A stable body depends on:
🌙 Maintaining healthy rhythms
🥗 Supporting proper nourishment
🚶 Keeping appropriate movement
🧘 Managing emotional stress
🌿 Allowing sufficient recovery

Modern life often encourages constant output:
Working harder.
Sleeping less.
Pushing through fatigue.

But the body is not designed to remain in a state of continuous demand.

Recovery is not a luxury.
It is part of maintaining resilience.

The goal of health is not perfection.
It is having enough reserve to respond when challenges come.

Because true protection is not the absence of difficulties.
It is the ability to return to balance.

👉 Next:
After exploring disease, imbalance, and recovery, what is the deeper message behind the Li Fire Period?

做更多;
睡更少;
忍耐疲勞;

21/08/2026

From the previous post, we discussed that the body’s stability is not lost overnight.
It is often the result of long-term imbalance between consumption and recovery.

So why does this become an important topic during the Li Fire Period?
From the perspective of Five Movements and Six Qi (Wu Yun Liu Qi), “Fire” does not simply mean higher temperature.

It represents a pattern of:
🔥 Faster changes
🔥 Greater fluctuations
🔥 Increased stimulation
🔥 Higher demands on adaptation

When the external environment becomes more dynamic, the body may need to spend more energy maintaining balance.

At the same time, modern lifestyles can add further pressure:
• Lack of sleep
• Chronic stress
• Constant stimulation
• Fast-paced living
• Insufficient recovery time
From a TCM perspective, these factors may gradually affect the body’s ability to regulate itself.

The issue is not that the Li Fire Period directly “creates disease”.
Rather, it may highlight a deeper question:
Can the body still adapt effectively when external changes increase?

The hidden risk is often not a sudden breakdown.
It is the gradual loss of resilience over time.

👉 Next:
If the body’s stability can be depleted, how can we rebuild and protect our inner balance?

Many people assume that health problems begin when a disease appears.
But from a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) perspective, the body often starts changing long before illness becomes obvious.

The key question is not only:
“What disease do I have?”
But also:
“Has my body’s ability to maintain balance already changed?”

The body is constantly trying to maintain a dynamic balance between:
• Recovery and depletion
• Adaptation and external stress
• Energy use and restoration

When the rate of depletion continues to exceed recovery, the body may gradually show signs such as:
• Slower recovery
• Increased sensitivity to stress
• Poorer sleep quality
• Persistent tiredness
• Reduced ability to adapt to changes

These signs may not mean illness has already developed.
But they may suggest that the body’s reserve and regulatory capacity are being reduced.

This may also explain why some people who appear healthy can struggle more when facing infections or major physical stress.

The real question is not only:
“When will illness happen?”
But:
“How much stability does the body still have?”

👉 Next:
Why does the Li Fire Period make this hidden depletion more noticeable in modern life?

Why Do Some People Recover Quickly While Others Become Seriously Ill?
After discussing "Heat Patterns", another important question follows:
If two people are exposed to the same infection, why can their outcomes be so different?

Modern medicine has identified many risk factors, including age, chronic diseases and immune function.

Traditional Chinese Medicine looks at this from another perspective:
The body's ability to maintain balance.

TCM refers to this as Zheng Qi (Healthy Qi).

It is not a single organ or a single immune cell.
Rather, it represents the body's overall capacity to regulate, recover and adapt.

When Zheng Qi is strong, the body is often better able to contain illness and restore balance.

When it has been weakened by prolonged stress, poor sleep, overwork or chronic illness, recovery may become much more difficult.

In TCM, particular attention is often given to the Heart, Lung and Kidney systems, as they play key roles in circulation, respiration and recovery.

The important point is not to fear illness.
It is to understand that the body's resilience is just as important as the pathogen itself.

👉 Next post:
If the body's resilience is so important, what everyday habits may be quietly weakening our Zheng Qi without us even noticing?

心主血脈,維持循環;
肺主氣,負責呼吸與衛外;
