🏥YOUR SURGERY IS ONLY ONE PART OF YOUR TRANSFORMATION. YOUR RECOVERY DESERVES JUST AS MUCH ATTENTION.
✨ POST OPERATIVE AFTERCARE IS NOT JUST A LYMPHATIC MASSAGE! ✨
Ladies, please understand the importance of choosing someone who genuinely specialises in post operative recovery. You’ve invested thousands into your surgery, your body and your confidence. Please don’t overlook the importance of who you trust with your recovery. 🫶🏼
Following procedures such as liposuction, 360 lipo, tummy tucks, BBLs and body contouring surgery, your body has experienced significant trauma. Beneath the surface, your tissues are healing, inflammation is developing, fluid drainage is changing and your body is working incredibly hard to recover.
This is where specialist knowledge becomes SO important! 👏🏼
💧 SEROMAS AND FLUID BUILDUP
A seroma is a collection of fluid that can develop beneath the skin following surgery. Recognising abnormal fluid accumulation is extremely important, as some seromas require medical assessment or drainage. Specialist aftercare should include knowing what is normal, what isn’t and when your surgical team needs to intervene.
🌿 FIBROSIS AND HARDENED TISSUE
Fibrosis involves the formation of fibrous scar tissue during healing. It can contribute to firmness, tightness and uneven areas. Understanding the stages of tissue healing and when appropriate techniques may be introduced is essential. Aggressive or incorrectly timed massage can actually aggravate recovering tissue.
✨ SWELLING AND LYMPHATIC DRAINAGE
Swelling is a natural response to surgery, but it can persist for weeks or months. Gentle, appropriately timed lymphatic techniques may help manage swelling and discomfort. However, post operative treatment must be adapted to your specific surgery, healing stage and any complications. It is NOT a one size fits all massage.
🩹 WOUND HEALING AND INFECTION RISKS
This is something I cannot stress enough!
An experienced aftercare practitioner should recognise potential warning signs such as increasing redness, unusual warmth, worsening pain, abnormal discharge, wound separation or fever.
