🌸 Menopause Awareness Day | Let’s Talk, Listen and Support Each Other
Menopause is a natural stage of life, but for many people, the journey through it can be anything but easy.
Behind the scenes, someone may be struggling with symptoms that others cannot see or fully understand. Hot flushes, night sweats, disrupted sleep, fatigue, brain fog, anxiety, low mood, joint pain and changes in confidence are just some of the challenges that menopause can bring.
For some, these symptoms can have a significant impact on daily life, relationships, wellbeing and the ability to feel confident and perform at work. Yet, too often, people suffer in silence because they feel embarrassed, misunderstood or worried about how others might perceive them.
💜 So, what can we all do to make a difference?
🌸 Listen without judgement.Sometimes, simply being heard and understood can make an enormous difference.
🌸 Educate ourselves. Everyone’s experience of menopause is different. Let’s challenge assumptions, break down stigma and create space for open, honest conversations.
🌸 Show compassion. We may not know what someone is experiencing behind their smile or professional appearance. A little patience, understanding and kindness can go a long way.
🌸 Create supportive workplaces. As colleagues, leaders and employers, we can help by encouraging conversations, considering reasonable adjustments where needed, and ensuring people feel safe asking for support without fear of judgement.
🌸 Check in with one another. Never underestimate the power of asking, “How are you really doing?” and taking the time to listen to the answer.
As someone passionate about workplace wellbeing, mental health and the human side of business, I believe that supporting people means recognising the challenges they may be facing, even when those challenges are not immediately visible.
We all have a part to play in creating environments where people feel valued, understood and supported — not just during menopause, but through every stage of life.
Let’s make menopause a conversation, not a taboo.Because when we support each other with empathy, understanding and compassion, we can make a genuine difference to people’s lives.
