Learning Disability Wales We want Wales to be the best country for people with a learning disability to live, learn, love and work

Learning Disability Wales is a national charity representing the learning disability sector in Wales. We want Wales to be the best country in the world for people with a learning disability to live, learn and work. We work with people with a learning disability and their families, Welsh government, local authorities, disabled people’s organisations and the voluntary sector so we can create a better Wales for all people with a learning disability. Elusen genedlaethol yw Anabledd Dysgu Cymru sydd yn cynrychioli’r sector anabledd dysgu yng Nghymru. Rydym eisiau i Gymru fod y wlad orau i bobl gydag anabledd dysgu i fyw, dysgu a gweithio ynddi. Rydyn ni’n gwneud hyn drwy weithio gyda phobl ag anabledd dysgu a’u teuluoedd, Llywodraeth Cymru, awdurdodau lleol, cyrff pobl anabl a’r sector gwirfoddol er mwyn inni allu creu Cymru well i’r holl bobl gydag anabledd dysgu.

An advocacy initiative for black children with Down’s Syndrome has won this year’s National Diversity Award for Multi-Strand Community Organisation.

The organisation, called ‘The Black Child Down Syndrome Project’, or BCDS Project, was founded by four mothers of children with Down’s Syndrome.

The founders, including Danise Bartlett-Grant, Tonye Faloughi-Ekezie and Oneness Sankara, started the photography project due to a “lack of representation” they encountered when it came to their children and their families.

The Black Child Down Syndrome Project is nominated for a BBC Make a Difference Award.
