Save this one. People call almost anything flu, and the difference actually matters this year, because flu is circulating earlier than it has in the last four seasons.
The short version: a cold builds over a couple of days and lets you carry on. Flu lands in a few hours, usually with a fever and aching everywhere, and stops you. If you’re in an eligible group your flu jab is free on the NHS, and it takes about two weeks to build protection — so earlier is better. Pop into your local branch.
