We love a glute bridge, and yes, it’s a great exercise for strengthening the glutes.
But there’s more going on than just your glutes…
When I use this exercise, my intention is to get all the muscles working together to support the hips, pelvis and spine, helping to create a strong and supported position for the lower back.
This isn’t to say there’s anything wrong with doing glute bridges to grow your glutes, or going to a Pilates b***y burn class and pulsing away until you feel the burn 😂
But that’s not what we’re doing here 💁🏻♀️
Instead of thrusting up and down and trying to get your reps in, slow it down. Move with precision and feel your adductors, abductors, core, glutes and hip flexors working together.
You might even shake. And that’s ok
This isn’t a backbend and we’re not trying to get into wheel. We’re intentionally moving through the exercise with the support of our muscles and breath, before slowly coming back down.
The goal is to build stability and support that you can take into everyday life, especially when you spend long periods sitting at your desk.
If you’re not sure whether you’re doing it correctly, I guide you through this exercise in detail inside my Pain-Free Workday, coming soon 🔜
