When booking an appointment in surgery you may be offered an appointment with one of our Advanced Clinical Practitioners or Clinical Pharmacist.
These enable us to have more available appointments and to see patients quicker. All of our ACPs are able to prescribe and refer.

An ACP is a master’s‑level advanced clinician (nurse, paramedic, pharmacist, physiotherapist, etc.) trained to assess, diagnose, treat, and prescribe within their professional scope.

All of our emergency appointments are booked with the first available clinician

MEET THE TEAM: Jarrod O’Neill Advanced Clinical Practitioner

So, my name is Jarrod, and I am 55 years old. I have been a medic for over 20 years, first starting my journey in the British armed forces, where I served in several theatres' world - wide, such as but not limited to Iraq, Afghanistan, Yemen, Syria, Libya, Somalia, and Syria to name a few.
Since leaving the military, I decided to peruse a career in paramedicine, first completing an undergraduate BSc degree in paramedic practice then completing further studies in MSc advanced clinical practice, MSc cardiology and MSc remote offshore medical practice. I also hold ALS membership, and currently teach ALS to a wide cohort of different students. My enthusiasm for advanced practice is forever growing, with much of my ongoing work conducted in primary, out - of - hours and urgent care practice settings.
My current interests involve clinical research, fishing, and spending time with my family.

👩‍🔬All About Appointments:
New appointments get released at 8am each morning. There are a number of appointment types and they get released for various time frames.
🔴EMERGENCY APPOINTMENTS
These appointments are bookable by telephone on the same day they are released. We have a very limited number of these appointments in the morning at each site.
These are for acute (new) issues that cannot wait to be treated. The appointments are offered in time order only with the first available clinician. If you have seen a clinician before for this issue or you can wait to fit your appointment around your work or travel commitments we will offer you a routine appointment instead.
🟢ROUTINE APPOINTMENTS
These appointments are bookable by telephone or by using patient facing services such as the NHS APP. We have a number of telephone and face to face appointments available and they could be with GPs, Advance Nurse Practitioners, or clinical pharmacists. If you need a follow up for an issue, test results, or its a non urgent issue, you need a ROUTINE appointment.

This National Cholesterol Month, our message is simple: Cholesterol Matters. Every Swap Counts.

Small changes to the choices you make every day can add up to make a big difference to your heart health. From what you eat to how you move, making simple, achievable swaps can help you look after your cholesterol and your heart.

"Excellent all round consultation with a pleasant and interested looking student doctor present.
Feel privileged to be part of someone's learning.
After discussion Dr Hossack and I have a plan to move forward.
Pity the waiting times for both NHS CT scan and other private referral but as long as it is in hand I will not worry.
Well done team 😊"

Thanks so much for this lovely review
