A huge thank you to the Downham Village Hall Committee Downham Village Hall for their incredibly kind donation of £1,345 to Ribble Valley Crossroads Care, raised through their fantastic Downham Hall Open Gardens event this year and presented at Downham Apple Day last Sunday. 🍎🌿

These vital funds will make a real difference to our local not-for-profit charity, helping us continue to support families and carers across the Ribble Valley.

We truly cannot thank you enough for your generosity and for all the hard work that went into making the Open Gardens event such a success. 💙

Ribble Valley Crossroads Care is seeking to recruit a support worker for a young male adult within his own home in the Ribble Valley. The young man has complex disabilities and will require full assistance with all aspects of daily life.
You will be working in beautiful surroundings in a newly renovated house.
During the week the young man attends day centre and will require support at home from 4pm-10am the following morning. You will be working a sleep in and will be provided with a comfortable bed and fresh bedding in your own private room. You will be expected to sleep, and this is not classed as a waking night. It is highly unlikely that you will be disturbed through the night, but you will be available in case of emergencies.
Hours on average of upto 34 hours per week over the month. With opportunities for overtime.
As day centre is closed at the weekends the young man will require support throughout the day on Saturdays and Sundays, in addition to sleep in shifts with a required 4 hour break.

IDEAL CANDIDATE:
You must have a valid UK driving licence. If required, you will be expected to drive the young man’s vehicle.
Moving and Handling experience is required as you will be assisting with hoisting and transfers into specially adapted vehicles, wheelchair and mobile armchair.
The young gentleman we support is very laid back and likes to take things slowly. If you are looking for a fast-paced working environment, then this role is not for you. Family have requested for ‘chilled out’ Personal Assistants.
You must be confident with swimming as the young man has a hydro pool at his home and likes to use this on a regular basis.
Previous care experience is necessary due to the complex nature of the young man’s disabilities.

MAIN DUTIES
Assisting with Personal Care
Food preparation and feeding
Cleaning and Domestic Duties
Medication Administration
Assisting with Sensory Activities and Swimming

You must be an extremely trustworthy individual as you will be supporting the young man to transition out of the family home and to live independently in his own house. To apply please submit your CV to [email protected]

Marilyn helped me make fudge at Time For You yesterday. It had set just in time for everyone to sample a piece before the session finished, and Marilyn enjoyed taking it round the room ❤️. If you know someone living with or supporting someone with dementia who would benefit from support and companionship, come and join us on Thursdays, 10am to 12.30 at West Bradford Village Hall. No referrals needed.

Our favourite sessions at Friends in Nature are those which involve making something and then eating it 😁. Today, it was butter. We put our wrist action and stamina to the test and jiggled containers of cream until it had formed into butter, when we were able to add our own choices of flavourings - garlic, chilli, honey, herbs - and spread it on crusty bread. An excellent morning in the sunshine with ☀️
