When you select a Doula to be by your side as you navigate pregnancy, prepare for labour and birth and plan for your postpartum, it is so very important that they are the right fit!

Do you feel comfortable with them?

Your Doula is going to be there when you are at your most vulnerable.

I work hard to get to know you and your partner. But right from the offset, if you don’t feel like the right clients for me, I will kindly decline supporting you!!

It starts with a no obligation discovery call.
We can learn so much from each other and know if we are the right fit.

If you would like to know about my doula support, I would love to hear from you.
Tracy.

Thank you for choosing me and allowing me to share these photos. 🄰(I couldn’t pick just one after all!)

Artificial Oxytocin given by an IV to speed up labour can be harmful to both mum and baby.

For mum;

ā€¼ļøIncreased risk of the uterus becoming hyperstimulated.
ā€¼ļøIncreased risk of haemorrhaging.
ā€¼ļøMore pain.
ā€¼ļøMore likely to need an epidural.
ā€¼ļøIncreased likelihood of an instrumental birth or Caesarean.

And for baby;
ā€¼ļøIncreased risk of baby becoming distressed.
ā€¼ļøIncreased risk of baby being unwell.
ā€¼ļøIncreased likelihood of feeding issues and problems adapting to life outside the womb.

ā€¼ļøNot to mention bonding issues and negative emotions around how baby’s birth unfolded.

Knowing how physiological labour can be, and how to support it, can really make a difference to how you and your baby experience birth.

A beautiful September baby born at home.

The first photo captures me being present, but still.
During a birth I will spend much of my time quietly observing. Occasionally I will offer reassurance and positive affirmations to encourage and support both parents to be.

Often I portray guidance and reassurance with a look, a touch, a simple thumbs up.

Being. Not doing. Protecting space. Doulaing.

Knowing when to act and when not to, comes with experience, skill and intuition.

Thank you to my lovely clients for allowing me to share these photos. 🄰

You are not a machine.
One size doesn’t fit all.
Only 4% of babies are born on their EDD.
Placentas don’t suddenly pack up and die.
Placentas don’t know what date it is.
Full Term Pregnancy is a 5 week window.
You are an individual.
Your baby signifies when labour starts, if left to!
Women know how to birth. We’ve been doing it for millennia!
Obstetrics is designed around numbers, dates, weak evidence, and risk adverse policies.

And so on…….

The cervix is a sphincter muscle.
During labour it softens and opens,(dilates).

But, did you know it can also revert?

Why? Because stress, feeling unsafe, disturbed or panicked can cause it to close slightly.

Feeling safe, protected, respected, heard and cared for during labour and birth are vital for labour progression.

I have been teaching Hypnobirthing for a few years now. It never ceases to amaze me how powerful it can be. šŸ™Œ

My lovely client was a first time mummy who wanted to have a physiological (natural) birth at home, in water.

She was scared of the pain. She didn’t know if she would be able to cope with it.

Hypnobirthing taught her how those painful contractions were Purposeful, Anticipated, Intermittent and Needed. Re-framing and understanding pain as telling you your body is doing what it needs to do.

And, she laboured, and birthed her baby without any form of pain relief!

Yes it was hard. Yes it was painful. But she trusted her body and her support team and birthed her baby with strength and intuition.

Welcome to the world little one. I am so proud of your mummy! 🄰
