💜 The power of the Virtual Dementia Tour® – feedback that really means something!
We were delighted to receive this wonderful feedback from Home Instead Exeter and East Devon following their recent Virtual Dementia Tour session with Experience Training.
It's always lovely to hear how our training experiences make a difference, not just on the day, but in how teams think about and support people living with dementia.
Here's what they had to say:
“I'm really pleased to share our feedback on the Dementia Bus session we hosted at Home Instead Exeter and East Devon.
It was very well received by everyone who took part, including our own team and the colleagues who joined us from other Home Instead offices.
Your presenter was excellent. She was knowledgeable, warm and engaging, and particularly brilliant at answering questions and leading the role play, which brought the learning to life in a way a classroom session can't.
The experience itself was really thought-provoking. For some people it was genuinely uncomfortable. But that's exactly what makes it so powerful, because it gives a real insight into what living with dementia can feel like. It was handled with great care, and everyone felt well supported throughout and afterwards.
The most valuable part for us was the shift in empathy and understanding. Our team came away thinking differently about how they support clients living with dementia, which is exactly what we hoped for.
Thank you to you and the team. We'd be very happy to recommend the experience, and we'd love to work with you again in future.”
This is exactly why we do what we do. 💜
The Virtual Dementia Tour® gives delegates an opportunity to experience some of the challenges a person living with dementia may face. It encourages us to pause, reflect and look at the way we communicate, our approach to care and the environments we create.
Sometimes, understanding begins with experiencing something for ourselves. That shift in perspective can make a real difference to the way we support someone, helping us provide care with greater empathy, patience and understanding.
A huge thank you to the team at Home Instead Exeter and East Devon for welcoming us, taking part so openly and sharing such honest and meaningful feedback. We're thrilled the experience had such a positive impact, and we look forward to working with you again!
Could the Virtual Dementia Tour® make a difference to your team?
If you're looking to strengthen dementia awareness, develop empathy and encourage more person-centered care, we'd love to hear from you.
