🌖🌕🌔Facing Menopause
Everyone woman has/will have her own unique story to tell.
My journey began at 43 & I haven’t crossed the threshold to the third season yet but I cannot wait for the wild grey hair!
Over the last seven years I’ve experienced the whole smorgasbord of symptoms that can take me from euphoria to existential dread before I’ve even had breakfast.
Like many, back then I thought I was going mad- it started with brain fog, anxiety, migraine aphasia, feeling very low and sleep loss.
Then came hot flashes, irritability, bloated belly, metabolic sh*tstorm & intolerance to most food groups.
Then joint pain, fatigue, itchy skin, thinning nails/hair & then came the worst & the one symptom I don’t feel is talked about enough…numbness.
After cycles of extreme highs & lows comes the loss of joy, emotional flatlining & disconnection from self.
For a long time, I battled with it & I fought against it. I tried to force those feelings back, to recreate, to chase the moments that made me feel alive. I felt grief for a version of myself I thought I was losing. But somewhere in that discomfort, something began to shift.
I started to discover joy in unexpected ways & learned that it doesn’t always have to arrive in the moment but now it reveals itself in quiet reflections & that’s just as wonderful!
And perhaps that’s what my yoga practice has taught me more than anything. Not to resist the changes life brings, but to face them with curiosity and courage…
like the wise Dhumavati teaches us to sit in the discomfort & trust in the process to quiet transformation.
So, I lay down my armour, not because I’ve given up but because I’m learning that I don’t have to fight my way through every change. There is strength in allowing rather than forcing -in surrendering without losing your power.
And in laying down my armour I’ve reclaimed my joy!
Yoga has always been there for me through all life’s transitions & The Yoga 🌳 is a space for all our seasons of becoming.
A place to lay down your armour, meet yourself exactly as you are and embrace all that you are becoming.
Hope to see you on the mat this week
