Here at Community Pharmacy Nottinghamshire, we know many contractors are thinking about signing up for Independent Prescribing within the CPCF. Current documentation and draft specification are changing almost on a daily basis with Community Pharmacy England rightly advising that: โโฆpharmacy owners await publication of all the documentation before making a decision on whether to sign up to provide prescribing, in order that they are fully cognisant of all the requirements they will have to comply with.โ
And thatโs our advice too. Please donโt sign up to something until you have had the opportunity to fully understand the commitment you and your team will be making. Please also be aware that if the documentation you read is still a โdraftโ version, you must read the final version when it is published in case there are any changes.
There is a fundamental additional requirement to this service compared to other services your pharmacy may provide, and this is described in the Professional assurance framework for delivering NHS community pharmacy clinical services. You can read that here โฌ๏ธ

Currently the most comprehensive repository of information can be found on the CPE website here โฌ๏ธ

So, if you are considering signing up for Independent Prescribing with the CPCF, please set aside some time to read ALL elements of this page as they will guide you through the myriad of information and provide key preparation to ensure you donโt miss anything.
Weโll post regularly with the latest developments but if you have any questions, please email our services implementation manager, Mike Jones at [email protected] who will be happy to assist.
