Our second featured artist of the day is Peter:

“Peter also started painting during early
school years, was tutored by his
mother, an artist in her own right, then
continued drawing and painting in watercolours, oils and acrylics. He started an art club in Herefordshire for
Age Concern before it became Age UK.
With numerous members it ran for many years. Some of his pictures are taken from personal photographs.”

Another featured artist today is Chris:

When I was young I loved drawing cowboys and Indians (native Americans), and footballers, and to this day I retain an interest in the human form by attending life drawing classes and groups. Many years ago I learnt to paint in oils, mainly landscapes, sadly a skill I've since lost. These days, as an occasional and rather slow artist, I'm having a go experimenting with pastels, acrylics, and as with this picture, water colour pencils.

Chris’s drawing is of Gold Hill, Shaftsbury, Dorset where the 1973 Hovis bread TV advert was filmed.

Medium - pencil outline filled in with watercolour pencils.

Today our featured artist is Anne:

“Hi my name is Anne. At school Art was one of my favourite subjects but I progressed no further & took no exams in the subject. On leaving school at 16 years of age I never thought any more about Art except for appreciating good works of art in museums or at local art exhibitions. However, on retirement I joined a local beginners art group & found that my interest for the subject was still there. In June 2024 I visited Fen Edge Festival & came across Cottenham Canvas displaying some of the groups art work along with information about the group. I went along one Monday evening & decided to join. The group is very friendly, approachable, encouraging & supportive. It has given me the confidence to use pastels, charcoals etc which I enjoy although there is still lots of room for improvement.”
