18-year-olds are being encouraged to get a free Meningitis B vaccine before starting university or college this autumn to protect them against this life-threatening disease. It is a separate vital vaccination to the MenACWY dose that was given in school in Year 9.
To encourage our Upper Sixth to get their jabs, the College has partnered with local pharmacy Vantage Chemist Coventry to offer the vaccine to pupils in school in a familiar environment. The first doses were delivered this morning with the second doses scheduled for four weeks later in August.
Uptake has been good but if you missed out and want more information you can get in touch with the pharmacy directly here: [email protected] or book an appointment at your local pharmacy via the NHS website here: https://www.england.nhs.uk/publication/meningococcal-b-menb-vaccination-invitations/
Meningitis spreads fast in shared housing and at large gatherings so it’s important our Upper Sixth get their two doses to protect themselves and their friends.
