Iโ€™m sorry Iโ€™ve been a little quiet on here recently! ๐Ÿ™ˆ

Things have been rather busy behind the scenes as Iโ€™ve been finishing up in my employment. Tuesday was officially my last day! ๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿ’œ

The last few weeks have been especially busy making sure all of the families Iโ€™ve been supporting had a proper handover before I finished. It was really important to me that everyone was settled and knew what was happening before I left.

Iโ€™m sure many of you will know exactly what that feels like โ€” especially those of you who have gone on maternity leave. ๐Ÿ’œ Thereโ€™s so much to organise, so many loose ends to tie up, and lots of emotions along the way!

Now I have a little week off before I start my new post, and Iโ€™m taking some much-needed time to decompress, slow down and enjoy some family time. ๐Ÿ’œ

Weโ€™re heading away for a couple of nights to the Highlands โ€” my very happy place ๐Ÿ”๏ธ๐Ÿ’œ Iโ€™m really looking forward to taking a breath, switching off and enjoying some precious time with my family.

And while Iโ€™m taking some time to relax, Iโ€™ll also be doing a little bit of planning for The Lavender Circleโ€ฆ๐Ÿ’œ

โœจ Setting dates for the next Baby Massage course
โœจ Getting everything ready for the launch of Baby Yoga

So, after a very busy few weeks, Iโ€™m looking forward to some Highland air, family time and a little bit of exciting planning for whatโ€™s next. ๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿ”๏ธ๐Ÿ’œ

Exciting times ahead! ๐Ÿ’œโœจ

๐Ÿ’œ Week 5 โ€“ Baby Massage ๐Ÿ’œ

On 25th September, we celebrated Week 5 of baby massage โ€” and the final class of this block at The Lavender Circle. ๐Ÿ’œ

We finished with a lovely recap, revisiting our colic & constipation routine and choosing a couple of favourite strokes from each of the areas weโ€™ve covered over the past few weeks.

And, of course, we couldnโ€™t let our final session pass without a little celebration! ๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿ’œ

The babies had their tiny footprints taken for their certificates ๐Ÿ‘ฃ, while Mums enjoyed some delicious cake and sparkling elderflower. ๐Ÿง๐Ÿฅ‚

What a lovely way to end our time together! ๐Ÿ’œ It has been such a pleasure watching everyone grow in confidence and seeing those beautiful bonds between Mums and their little ones develop throughout the block.

Thank you for making our final session so special. ๐Ÿ’œ

๐Ÿ’œ Week 4 of Baby Massage ๐Ÿ’œ

Another lovely class on Friday with our little circle, and itโ€™s so lovely to see the babies becoming more accustomed to the massage routine and the mums becoming more confident too. ๐Ÿฅฐ

This week we covered head, face and back๐ŸŒฟ

We also incorporated some tummy time into our session, which is such an important part of baby's physical development.

Tummy time gives babies the opportunity to practise using and strengthening the muscles in their neck, shoulders, arms, back and tummy. These muscles help them gradually develop the strength and control they need for things like lifting their head, reaching, rolling, sitting and eventually becoming more mobile.

But itโ€™s not about how long baby can manage in one go. Little and often is best. ๐Ÿ’œ

And tummy time doesnโ€™t always have to happen on the floor. You can incorporate it into everyday moments too โ€” lying baby on your chest while having a cuddle, across your lap while you chat to them, or on the floor when theyโ€™re happy to be there.

Some babies love tummy time, while others definitely let us know theyโ€™re not impressed! ๐Ÿ˜‚ And thatโ€™s okay. Every baby is different, and we always follow their lead.

Itโ€™s about giving them little opportunities to practise, build strength and become more comfortable at their own pace.

And of course, tummy time is for when baby is awake and supervised โ€” babies should always be placed on their backs for sleep.

Another lovely session of massage, cuddles, chats and precious time with baby ๐ŸŒฟ

๐Ÿ’œ Week 3 of Baby Massage ๐Ÿ’œ

We had another lovely session on Friday, focusing on chest, arms and hands. ๐Ÿคฒ

The chest massage is particularly lovely as we head into the deeper days of autumn, with gentle movements that can help support babies when theyโ€™re experiencing congestion. ๐Ÿ‚

Our theme this week was Exploration, so we did a little activity to encourage the babies to explore using their senses. The reviews were definitely mixed! ๐Ÿ˜‚ Some babies were completely engaged, while others weren't quite as interested โ€” and thatโ€™s absolutely okay.

Everything happens at babyโ€™s pace, and at The Lavender Circle we always follow their lead. ๐Ÿ’œ Thereโ€™s no pressure to join in, sit still or โ€œdo it rightโ€. Sometimes watching is enough, and sometimes theyโ€™d rather have a cuddle!

We finished our session with exactly that โ€” a lovely cuddle with our babies and a lullaby together. ๐Ÿฅฐ There was something so special about ending the class in such a calm and cosy way ๐Ÿ’œ

๐Ÿ’œ A little update from The Lavender Circle ๐Ÿ’œ

I had originally planned to launch my Baby Yoga classes in September, but as Iโ€™ve mentioned before, I also work part-time in a family support role and Iโ€™m starting a new job in mid-October. This means my days off are changing, so Iโ€™ve had to rethink my class days too.

I didnโ€™t want to start a block and then have to change the day halfway through. ๐ŸŒฟ

At the moment, Iโ€™m looking at dates that work for both me and my lovely venue, Elements Centre for Wellbeing, and itโ€™s looking like my next Baby Massage course โ€” and the launch of my Baby Yoga classes! โ€” will be after the October holidays.

It will also give me a wee bit of time to settle into my new role before I throw myself back into classes. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ’œ

And I am SO excited to finally launch Baby Yoga! ๐Ÿฅฐ Iโ€™ve been working away behind the scenes and I canโ€™t wait to welcome you and your little ones along.

Of course, there will be a little introductory offer for my first Baby Yoga classes, so keep your eyes peeled for when bookings go live! ๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿ’œ

๐Ÿ’œ Baby Massage Tip for Home ๐Ÿ’œ

Baby massage at home can be such a lovely activity to do with your little one. Itโ€™s a chance to slow down, have some one-to-one time together and enjoy that lovely connection. ๐Ÿฅฐ

You donโ€™t need to do a full massage routine every time โ€” even just a few gentle strokes can be really special.

๐Ÿƒ Choose a time when your baby is calm and happy, rather than hungry or tired.

๐Ÿƒ Keep your movements slow, firm but gentle, and follow your babyโ€™s cues.

๐Ÿƒ If baby looks away, becomes unsettled or just isnโ€™t feeling it, thatโ€™s absolutely fine. Stop and try again another time.

๐Ÿƒ And most importantly, donโ€™t worry about getting it perfect. Baby massage isnโ€™t about doing every movement exactly right. Itโ€™s about touch, connection and spending precious time together.

๐Ÿƒ Talk to your baby while you massage, make eye contact, smile and enjoy that lovely one-to-one time. You could even sing to your baby or play some gentle music in the background.

Sometimes five quiet minutes together is all you need. ๐Ÿ’œ

๐Ÿ’œ Week 2 of Baby Massage ๐Ÿ’œ

Another lovely session on Friday, and our theme this week was connection. ๐ŸŒฟ

We focused on the abdomen area, learning some gentle massage movements that can support little tummies with digestion and can be particularly helpful for babies experiencing constipation or colic. ๐Ÿ’•

But baby massage is about so much more than the massage itself. Itโ€™s that lovely one-to-one time, slowing down, making eye contact, talking to your baby and really being present with them. ๐Ÿฅฐ

Itโ€™s been so lovely watching our little circle settle in over the last couple of weeks. The babies are becoming more familiar with the routine, and the mums are getting more confident too.

Iโ€™m looking forward to another lovely session next Friday! ๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿ’œ

๐Ÿ‚ Hello September ๐Ÿ‚

I do love this time of year, when you begin to notice the little changes around you โ€” the leaves starting to turn, the cooler mornings and that unmistakable feeling that autumn is on its way. ๐ŸคŽ

But as the evenings start getting darker and the days become a little shorter, it can also feel like a bit of a shift.

So, amongst those darker evenings, try to keep focused on all the little pockets of joy. ๐Ÿ’œ

A warm cuppa while baby naps. โ˜•๏ธ
A cosy blanket and a sleepy cuddle. ๐Ÿฅฐ
Tiny hands reaching for yours.
A crisp autumn walk and rosy little cheeks. ๐Ÿ‚
Those little smiles that can brighten even the greyest day.

Motherhood can be exhausting and overwhelming, but it can also be filled with so much joy in the smallest moments.

So as September begins, look for the little things that make you smile and hold onto them. ๐Ÿ’œ

Hereโ€™s to a cosy September, filled with lots of little moments of joy. ๐Ÿ‚๐Ÿ’œ

๐Ÿฅฅ Why I chose for The Lavender Circle ๐Ÿ’œ

When I was choosing a massage oil for my baby massage classes, I wanted something I felt comfortable using on those tiny hands, feet and delicate skin.

I chose Organic Coconut Oil, and every mum who joins a 5-week Baby Massage course receives a 70g tub in their welcome pack to use during the sessions and at home. ๐Ÿฅฅ๐Ÿ’•

One of the reasons I love using a natural, organic oil is that we massage those little hands and feet in classโ€ฆ and we all know where they end up โ€” straight in their mouths!

coconut oil is made with natural, organic ingredients and is suitable for newborn and sensitive skin. Itโ€™s also dermatologically tested and paediatrician approved. ๐ŸŒฟ

Another thing I love is that is widely available from retailers such as Boots, so if you and your baby love using it, itโ€™s easy to find more when your little tub runs out. ๐Ÿ’œ

As with any new product, I always recommend doing a patch test before using it for the first time.

And if you already have a massage oil that you love, youโ€™re absolutely welcome to bring your own along to class.

Tiny hands, tiny feet, gentle touchesโ€ฆ and lots of love. ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿฅฅ

๐Ÿ’œ Week 1 complete! ๐Ÿ’œ

We started our new Baby Massage course on Friday, and thereโ€™s something really special about the first week of a new group.

New mums, tiny babies, a few nerves (and Iโ€™ll admit, a few from me too! ๐Ÿ˜‚), chatting and the beginning of new connections. ๐ŸŒฟ

I didnโ€™t manage to get any photos of the setup because I was too busy making sure everything was just right for the mums and babies. I like to have everything ready, organised and looking lovely before everyone arrives so that I can create a calm and welcoming space from the moment they walk through the door. ๐Ÿ’œ

Iโ€™m so looking forward to watching our little circle grow over the next four weeks as everyone settles in, gets to know each other and enjoys some precious time with their babies.

Hereโ€™s to slowing down, connecting and enjoying the little moments. ๐Ÿ’œ
