💙 BOWEL CANCER SCREENING – PLEASE DON'T IGNORE YOUR KIT! 💙

Did you know that bowel cancer screening can help detect signs of bowel cancer before you notice any symptoms? 🩺

The NHS bowel cancer screening programme offers eligible people a simple home test called the FIT kit (Faecal Immunochemical Test). It checks for tiny amounts of blood in your poo that you may not be able to see.

✅ If your screening kit arrives, please complete it and return it promptly.

✅ The test can help detect potential problems early, when treatment may be more effective.

✅ Screening is offered to eligible people even if they feel perfectly well.

📬 Lost your kit or need another one? Contact the NHS Bowel Cancer Screening Programme for advice.

⚠️ Don't wait for your screening invitation if you have concerns. If you notice blood in your poo, a persistent change in your bowel habits, unexplained weight loss or ongoing tummy pain, please contact your GP. These symptoms do not necessarily mean cancer, but they should be checked.

💙 Taking a few minutes to complete your kit could make a real difference. Please don't put it off.

📢 Please share this post to help raise awareness and encourage others to take part in bowel cancer screening.

🦠 HELP STOP THE SPREAD OF INFECTION! 🧼

As we head into the colder months, infections such as colds, flu, COVID-19 and stomach bugs can spread more easily. There are simple steps we can all take to help protect ourselves and others. 💙

✅ Wash your hands regularly with soap and water.

🤧 Catch coughs and sneezes in a tissue and dispose of it immediately.

🧴 Use hand sanitiser when soap and water aren't available, where appropriate.

😷 Wear a face covering if you have respiratory symptoms and need to attend the surgery, if you are able to do so.

🏡 Stay at home where possible if you have a fever or feel unwell, and avoid contact with vulnerable people.

💉 Keep up to date with recommended vaccinations, including flu and COVID-19 vaccines if eligible.

❤️ Protect yourself, your family and our community. Small actions can make a big difference in reducing the spread of infection.

If you have an appointment at the surgery and are experiencing symptoms of an infection, please contact us for advice before attending.

Thank you for helping us keep our patients, staff and community safe.

💚 **LOOK AFTER YOUR MENTAL WELLBEING** 💚

Life can sometimes feel overwhelming, and it's important to remember that your mental health matters just as much as your physical health. 💚

Taking small steps every day can make a real difference to how you feel. 🌿

💚 **Here are a few ways to look after your mental wellbeing:**

🌳 Get outside for some fresh air and enjoy a short walk.

💬 Talk to someone you trust about how you're feeling.

😴 Try to get enough sleep and establish a regular routine.

📱 Take regular breaks from social media and your phone.

🧘 Make time for activities that help you relax and unwind.

❤️ Be kind to yourself. You don't have to have everything figured out.

🤝 **Remember, it's okay not to be okay.** You don't have to face things alone, and asking for help is a sign of strength.

If you're struggling with your mental health, please speak to your GP practice. We are here to help you access the support you need.

📞 If you need urgent mental health support, you can call NHS 111 and select the mental health option in England. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 999.

💚 **Take a moment for yourself today. You matter.**

💗🎀 **WEAR IT PINK – BREAST CANCER AWARENESS** 🎀💗

Today, Friday 23rd October, is **Wear It Pink**, a campaign raising awareness of breast cancer and supporting life-changing breast cancer research.

Breast cancer can affect anyone, and knowing what is normal for your body can help you recognise changes that need checking.

💗 **Know the signs:**
🎀 A new lump or swelling in your breast, chest or armpit.
🎀 Changes in the size or shape of your breast.
🎀 Dimpling or changes to the skin.
🎀 Changes to the ni**le, including a rash or discharge.
🎀 Persistent pain in your breast or armpit.

🌸 **Please remember:** Most breast changes are not cancer, but it's important to contact your GP if you notice anything new or unusual. Don't wait for your next screening appointment if you have concerns.

💕 **How can you get involved?**
- Wear something pink to show your support.
- Share this post to help spread awareness.
- Check in with someone who may be affected by breast cancer.
- Encourage friends and family to be aware of the signs and attend screening when invited.

Every conversation can help raise awareness and encourage people to seek advice when they need it.

💗 Let's stand together, spread awareness and support everyone affected by breast cancer.
