AESTHETICS MYTH: “MORE PRODUCT = BETTER RESULTS”

Not necessarily.

Good aesthetic treatment isn’t about using as much product as possible.

It’s about understanding facial anatomy, proportions, balance and most importantly, the individual sitting in front of you.

Sometimes subtle changes can make the biggest difference.

And sometimes the right recommendation is to leave an area completely alone.

More isn’t always more.

Our faces naturally change as we get older, and that isn’t something we need to be frightened of.

Collagen production reduces, skin can become thinner, volume changes and those little lines that once disappeared when our face relaxed may decide to stay around a little longer.

Aesthetic treatment isn’t about trying to look 20 again.

For many of our clients, it’s simply about looking after their skin and feeling confident in the face looking back at them.

Dry, tight or flaky skin doesn’t automatically mean eczema.

Dry skin can happen for lots of reasons, changes in weather, over-cleansing, hot showers or using products that strip the skin barrier.

Eczema is an inflammatory skin condition and can involve itching, redness, soreness, cracking and recurring flare-ups.

And sometimes, from looking at your skin yourself, it can be difficult to know what you’re actually dealing with.

That’s why understanding your skin matters.

Rather than continually adding new products when your skin feels unhappy, sometimes the best place to start is by simplifying things and getting the right advice.

During National Eczema Week, it’s a good reminder that irritated skin doesn’t always need more, sometimes it needs a little less.

If your skin is feeling irritated, the temptation can be to keep searching for another product to fix it.A new cleanser....

If your skin is feeling irritated, the temptation can be to keep searching for another product to fix it.

A new cleanser.
Another serum.
A different moisturiser.

But sometimes the growing skincare routine becomes part of the problem.

Fragrance, active ingredients, exfoliating acids, scrubs and simply using too many products can all be difficult for an already compromised skin barrier to tolerate.

If your skin suddenly becomes dry, itchy, tight or uncomfortable, resist the temptation to throw everything at it.

Go back to basics.

Be gentle with your skin, simplify your routine and introduce products carefully rather than changing everything at once.

And if irritation is persistent, worsening or you suspect eczema, speak to an appropriate healthcare professional rather than trying to treat it yourself through skincare alone.
