Meet the Team: Anne Harris

I am a Business Development Manager, conducting in-practice infection control training to practices across the South East of England, South West of England and South Wales. I also work with/support my Henry Schein FSC’s on the road. I promote our infection control products – but not when I am presenting – and discuss our Clean Water Club. It’s a fabulous role, and very rewarding getting to know practices.

What makes Dentisan different is the people, including those who support us at our office in Derby. They’re genuinely invested in helping us on the road and our customers.

Outside of work I enjoy walking my little dog. I live close to the sea – those coastal walks help clear my head! I am often found at breakfast or lunch with good friends catching up and love gardening.

Hand air dryers can increase the amount of bacteria on your hands after you’ve washed them. The inside of hand dryers are moist environments, meaning that they are the perfect environment in which bacteria can grow. Then, when air is released from the dryer to dry your hands, this air can be filled with bacteria. Hand towels can also store bacteria, which means that if you dry your hands using a towel after washing, then you can transfer bacteria back onto them.

The safest way to dry your hands is by using disposable paper towels, as these help to prevent harmful bacteria and viruses from getting back onto your hands.

Meet the Team – Holly Dickinson

I'm a Business Development Manager at Dentisan covering Scotland, the Republic of Ireland, and Northern Ireland, with over 20 years in the dental industry. My clinical background as a former dental nurse helps me quickly understand what practices need and provide tailored solutions, both in person and through virtual training sessions. I thought I fully understood infection control from my time in surgery, but working with Dentisan has shown me how much science sits behind the products we use every day, where small details like dilution and contact time make a huge difference. One area practices often overlook is dental unit waterline (DUWL) maintenance, as biofilm can build up inside the tubing if the lines aren't treated correctly, even when the water looks clean. What makes Dentisan different is that we don't just supply products; we build lasting relationships with practices and support teams at every stage.

Away from work, I've run family 5ks with my brother, niece, and nephew, taken on a few 10ks, and I'm now training for a half marathon. I run for my sanity!

Quiz! In a dental practice, what percentage of airborne bacteria come from the floor?

a) 0 per cent
b) 5 per cent
c) 10 per cent
d) 15 per cent

The redistribution of bacteria into the air from the treatment room accounts for up to 15 per cent of all airborne bacteria, emphasising the need to keep the floor surfaces clean.

Today is World Patient Safety Day. As experts in dental practice infection control, the health and safety of patients is a paramount concern for the Dentisan team.

This year’s theme is “Safe care for noncommunicable diseases”, with the slogan “safe care for life!” Landmarks will light up orange to show commitment to patient safety, with the core goal to raise awareness of safety risks and integrate the correct protocols into health care settings.

Meet the Team – Jenny Nixon

Originally qualifying in Biomedical Microbiology at University, I entered the world of infection control for dentistry in 2006. Now with 20 years’ experience in the field, I regularly train practices, groups, speak for LDCs, Dental conferences and more. Highlights of my career include speaking on behalf of the FGDP at the BDA Conference, training at the Singapore Dental Hospital in 2011, training the national RAF dental teams back in 2008, as well as leading the team developing Dentisan’s Clean Water Club from concept to finished product and bringing it to the industry in 2022 . I joined Dentisan as Business Development Director in 2018, now the UK’s no. 1 infection control brand. I’m proud to lead a team of experts, providing products and services including education to the dental industry across the UK, Ireland and beyond. Away from my professional life I spend (too much of) my time reading, I enjoy history, travelling, musical theatre and I’m a crazy dog lady and dog-mum to Poppy the 9-month-old golden retriever.
