Day 3 Challenge
Stop feeling guilty for resting.
We live in a world where there is so much expectation on you. Work, family, elderly parents, animals and more. And we only 24 hours to get it all done.
Before you know it the whole day has gone. Or the whole weekend.
And you haven’t actually stopped to ask yourself:
“What do I need?”
Because sometimes being busy means we don't have to notice what we're actually feeling and keeping busy can stop us noticing that we're overwhelmed. It can stop us noticing that we need some space. A breather.
And for some of us, and this used to be me, constantly doing, fixing, pushing and keeping busy can be linked to past trauma. We stay busy so we don't have to stop and feel what's going on underneath and deal with it (thoughts and/or feelings).
So here's your challenge for the next 24 hours.
STOP and depending where you are:
Shut the laptop and look at the clouds.
Close the door and step outside and listen to the world.
Or if you are out on your bike and you're pushing because you've only got an hour, then stop and smell nature.
Take 5 slow breaths. In through your nose for 3. Out through your nose for 6.
You are now just giving your nervous system a few moments where it doesn't have to DO anything.
Because when you rest it should not be something you squeeze in when everything else is done. Our nervous systems are not evolved to be on the go every day until exhaustion or burnout.
You should not need to earn your rest. You need to prioritise rest for wellbeing.
Stop Shrinking. Reclaim Yourself. Reclaim the trails.
Let me know how you get on ❤️
