A Night to Remember at Hull City Hall ✨🎭

Recently, one of the people we support in Hull Supported Living enjoyed a very special evening out, attending Queenz at Hull City Hall

The tickets were purchased as an early birthday surprise, and with support from her team she was able to enjoy a fantastic night of entertainment.

This outing was particularly significant because it was the first time she had visited Hull city centre since moving back to the area last year. As someone who generally prefers to stay at home and can feel hesitant about accessing the community, this was a huge achievement and a real step forward in building confidence and trying new experiences.

To make the occasion even more memorable, she treated herself to a celebratory drink while enjoying the show and had a wonderful time from start to finish.

Perhaps the best moment came on the journey home. When asked whether she might like to see more shows in the future, she smiled and said yes. πŸ’™

Celebrating Two Special Milestone Birthdays πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‚

September was a month full of celebrations across our Hull Supported Living services, as two of the people we support marked their 40th birthdays!

Both celebrations were made extra special thanks to the hard work and dedication of our staff teams, who put plenty of planning into creating memorable parties tailored to each person's interests and wishes. The result was two fantastic celebrations enjoyed by friends, staff and people we support from across our services.

There was plenty of fun, including karaoke, where some of the people we support confidently took to the microphone and showcased their singing talents! 🎀✨

A huge thank you to our staff teams for all their effort and to the people we support for making the celebrations so special.

πŸ’™ Happy 40th Birthday to you both!

πŸŽ‰ STAFF SPOTLIGHT πŸŽ‰

Shining a light on the people making a positive impact every day.

Sam
Support Worker | Hull Supported Living

Sam may be relatively new to the team, but she has already made a positive impact. Working closely with an individual who is finding the transition into supported living challenging, Sam has shown patience, understanding and a truly person-centred approach.

Sam has taken the time to build a strong relationship with the individual and has developed a long term plan to encourage greater independence and choice, helping them gain more control over their environment and everyday life.

She is always looking for opportunities to support progress, no matter how small, and is already planning how to make the individual's upcoming milestone birthday as enjoyable and meaningful as possible.

Sam's patience, dedication and commitment to helping people achieve their goals make her a valued member of the team.

Thank you, Sam, for your hard work and person-centred approach. πŸ‘πŸ’™

Sundays Are for Sharing πŸ½οΈπŸ’™

There's something special about a Sunday roast dinner, and that's certainly true in our Hull Supported Living service.

Every week, the people we support come together to plan, shop for and prepare a traditional Sunday meal. On Saturdays, they head out with staff support to buy the ingredients, making choices about what they'd like on the menu and helping to manage the shopping trip.

On Sunday, it's time to get cooking! From peeling vegetables and preparing ingredients to setting the table and serving the meal, everyone plays a part. Tasks are shared between the people we support and staff, with opportunities to try different roles each week and develop new skills and confidence.

A huge thank you to everyone involved for making Sunday dinners such a valued and enjoyable part of life in Hull Supported Living. πŸ’™

Taking Steps Towards Greater Independence πŸ’™

One of the people we support in our Hull Supported Living service has made fantastic progress since moving into her new home.

After experiencing a difficult period in her life, she joined the household and has adapted remarkably well. She has built positive relationships with both staff and fellow tenants and is known for her cheerful personality, bringing plenty of laughter and positivity to those around her.

A particularly proud achievement has been maintaining her volunteering role. With support from staff, she completed travel training and now independently travels across town each week to volunteer, helping her stay connected to something she enjoys and values.

Her long term goal is to live in her own flat with minimal support, and staff are working closely with her to build the skills and confidence needed to achieve this. By promoting independence in everyday tasks, she continues to grow in confidence and capability week by week.

It's been wonderful to see her progress, determination and positive outlook. We're incredibly proud of everything she has achieved so far and look forward to supporting her on the next steps of her journey.
