The course starts and finishes on the stunning Bennerley Viaduct, also known as the Iron Giant. As stated on your entry, the course is not officially measured and so your results will not appear on sites such as Power of 10.
The relatively flat, 10k route is a looped course, well signposted and marshalled throughout.
A route map is available on the website.
A couple of small sections of the route are on an open road. While marshals will be alerting traffic, we do not have the right of way, so please follow marshal instructions, remain aware of motorists, and be considerate of other users of the route.
Conditions are uneven and vary underfoot, including gravel tracks, canal paths, unkept trails, as well as smooth pavements. Road shoes should suffice, but trail shoes may be advisable if it rains before the event. There are often some puddles on the course.
Water will be available around 5.7km mark and just after the finish. There will also be first aid support at the water station area should you need them.
Many parts of the route are quite narrow, so please ensure that you follow the signage and instructions from the marshals.
As much more of the route is on narrow canal paths we have made the decision to ban over-the-head style headphones from our event. Bone conductors are fine, and any earphones should be at an appropriate volume so that you are aware of people around you and the instructions of our safety marshals.
We do not have sole use of the route, so please be courteous to other people. In particular, there may be fast bikes approaching from behind, so always be aware of your surroundings.
As part of the course runs along the canal, the Canal and River Trust have asked us to remind runners about the risks. More information can be found on their website.
