Adult Social Care Strategic Review of low-level support for people with mental ill health๐Ÿ“ฃ

The Council is asking people what they think about a service before deciding whether to do things differently.

What Does This Mean for people currently accessing or needing to access services? - Nothing. The Council must listen to what people say.

This is about current mental health support services and includes the following services:
โ€ข Derbyshire Recovery & Peer Support Service
โ€ข Derbyshire Mental Health Independent Living Service
โ€ข Derbyshire County Councilโ€™s Mental Health Enablement

Why is this happening?
The Council is doing this because it needs to plan for the future, as some services we pay for are due to end on 31 March 2028. The Council wants to understand:
โ€ข what support people find most helpful
โ€ข how people like to access support
โ€ข whether anything could be improved
Once completed, the Council will look at what people have said and use it to help make decisions about future services. Meanwhile, services will continue to support people as normal and there will be no changes to the support you may be receiving.

How Can You Take Part?
There are three ways to get involved.
1. Derbyshire Recovery and Peer Support Service are holding in person events
2. You can complete a paper copy of the survey
If you would like a paper copy of the survey, please contact 01629 531307. If you need help to complete this, please let them know when you speak to them.
3. You can complete a survey online: By scanning this QR code with your phone: or clicking this link https://online1.snapsurveys.com/Interview/d12cd7ea-6c66-4941-adeb-17ed952e04d9

Your views are important to DCC and they are encouraging people to take part and have your say. The consultation will end on Sunday 23 August 2026 so please have your say.

๐Ÿ“ฃ REMINDER: From tomorrow (1 July 2026), the only way to contact the Derbyshire Mental Health Helpline will be by calling 111 and then selecting the โ€˜mental healthโ€™ option (option 2). The helplineโ€™s 0800 number will be switched off on this date.

This transition means that people who need immediate support with their mental health will not need to remember a long 0800 number, and will be able to get the help they need quickly and efficiently.

Christmas is often portrayed as a season filled with joyful family gatherings, hearty warm meals, and lovely gifts. However, the holidays can be challenging for many individuals โ€“ just last Christmas Day, the Samaritans helpline received around 800 calls for help.
There are lots of ways to reach out in Derby and Derbyshire if you need someone to talk to, even at Christmas, including drop-in centres, safe havens open every night of the week, and a 24/7 local helpline.
