DG Voice The voice of disabled people in Dumfries and Galloway DG Voice is a region-wide organisation of disabled people.

We work to ensure that Dumfries and Galloway businesses and organisations consider the needs and rights of all disabled people in everything they do. We are a place for people who experience disability to have their say about any matters that affect them. DG Voice is registered with OSCAR and Companies House and governed by a Board of Directors. Recognising the abilities of disabled people and our capacity to work on our own behalf, the DG Voice constitution requires that 75% of our members be disabled people.

This week is Challenge Poverty Week, a time to shine a light on the realities of poverty and the impact it has on individuals, families and communities across Scotland.

Poverty is not inevitable. By listening to people's experiences, challenging stigma and working together, we can create fairer communities where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

Throughout the week, we are coming together to raise awareness, start conversations and highlight the actions needed to tackle poverty and inequality. Every voice matters, and by speaking openly about the challenges people face, we can help break down barriers and encourage positive change.

We believe that no one should have to struggle alone. Whether it's through community support, access to information, or simply providing a welcoming space to connect with others, small actions can make a big difference.

Join us at one of our Challenge Poverty events this week in Gatehouse of Fleet and Dumfries for an opportunity to listen, learn and work towards a future where everyone has enough to live with dignity.

On Friday evening we'll be joined by Katie and Euan's Guide's* Volunteer Outreach Leader Rosie Sinclair for a discussion about Katie's epic journey and how we can make more of our local adventures (without having to travel as far as Istanbul).
