One of the biggest challenges in our training has been figuring out how best to fuel our bodies for life at sea.
In collaboration with Make It Scotch Education , we recently spoke to The National about the vital role nutrition plays in extreme endurance challenges.
When rowing across the Atlantic, we’ll need to consume up to 5,000 calories a day. Getting the right nutrients is essential to maintaining our energy, supporting recovery and keeping our bodies performing at their best.
Iron is particularly important, as low levels can lead to fatigue, dizziness, headaches and reduced exercise performance, all symptoms we want to avoid out on the Atlantic.
That’s why including quality, iron-rich foods, is an important part of our fuelling strategy as we prepare for the challenge ahead.
A huge thank you to Make It Scotch for helping us highlight the importance of nutrition on our journey to the start line. Check out our article in The National linked in our bio
Hi, we’re Saltire Tides and in December this year we will be rowing across the Atlantic Ocean as part of the World’s Toughest Row . We are taking on this incredible charity to fundraise for The Archie Foundation . A charity that stands besides children and their families when life takes an unexpected turn. Thank you for following along our incredible journey
