How Far Will You Go

I travel 70 miles to get my hair cut.
Some people think that’s a long way.

But I know what I want from my hairdresser: someone who understands unruly hair, knows their craft and doesn’t feel the need to follow every new trend.

And actually, it got me thinking about choosing someone to support your health.
Would you go out of your way to find the right person?
Would you take the time to look at their training and experience, understand how they work and make sure they’re right for what you actually need?

Because we’ve all seen the diets, wellness trends and latest must-have solutions come and go.

New doesn’t automatically mean better.
And qualifications matter.
So does experience.
But so does how you feel with the person you’re trusting.

Do you feel listened to?
Do you feel comfortable asking questions?
Do they see you, rather than simply putting you into a category?

That’s what I think good support should look like.
Not the latest health trend.
Not one-size-fits-all.
The right support for the woman you are now.

And yes, there’s one downside they, don’t serve coffee.
Luckily, there are plenty of places nearby!

What fo you need this autumn?

September has felt rather different for me this year.
I've had to slow down and rethink what I actually have the energy for.
And perhaps that's not such a bad reminder.

We can spend so much time thinking about what we should be doing that we forget to ask:

What would do I actually need right now?

For me, that means:

getting a decent amount of protein into breakfast
creating more space for an evening wind-down
enjoying warming, seasonal food again
getting back to strength training when I'm able
and, perhaps most importantly, making space for recovery
But wellbeing isn't only about food and exercise.

Perhaps there's something you've been meaning to learn, start or finish.
A hobby. A craft. A sport. A class. Something that gets you out of your usual routine and connects you with other people.

Because enjoyment, purpose and community matter too.
You don't need to overhaul your life.

What is one small thing you'd like to make more space for this autumn?

MIDLIFE?
Is this how you like to describe yourself?

I’ve been wrestling with the subtitle of my new All-Day Energy Guide. As in, who is it actually for?

It cropped up in a few conversations too, and the more we talked about it, the more interesting the language became.

Some women are perfectly happy with the word midlife. Others immediately think, Nope, not me.

I know one woman who would instantly disregard anything described as midlife because she simply doesn’t identify with the term.

Then there’s women of a certain age.

I quite liked it initially. It felt knowing, slightly tongue-in-cheek and perhaps a little French.

But when I looked into the phrase, I discovered it has historically been used as a euphemism for saying a woman is no longer young.

Which made me wonder:

Are we still trying to find polite ways of saying women are getting older?

Even midlife has an interesting history. The modern idea of the midlife crisis became associated with ageing, identity and decline. Yet there was also a much more positive idea of this stage of life: greater freedom, self-knowledge and possibility.

I actually rather like that version.

Because perhaps the problem isn’t the women.

Perhaps it’s the labels we’ve inherited.

So I’ve gone back to something much simpler:

The All-Day Energy Guide for Women Over 45.

No euphemism. No pretending 45 is some mysterious age we can’t name.

Just women.

Because things do change. And that doesn’t mean something is wrong with you.

It means understanding what your body needs now.

So I’m curious…

How do you feel about the term midlife? Is it how you like to describe yourself?

WAKE UP REFRESHED
STAY SHARP
FEEL LIKE YOU AGAIN

It’s all possible at midlife.
What could feeling better actually change for you?

Imagine waking up with more energy rather than already feeling behind.
Getting through the afternoon without that familiar slump.

Feeling clear-headed enough to concentrate, make decisions and enjoy your day.

Having the energy to do the things you actually want to do — not just get through everything that needs doing.
These things can feel a long way off when you’re in the middle of midlife changes and wondering why what used to work doesn’t seem to work anymore.

But feeling better isn’t about finding one magic solution.
It’s about understanding what your body needs now and making changes that support it.

That’s what the Nourish approach is about.

Food-first nutrition, personalised to you, alongside the lifestyle changes that support your energy, digestion, metabolism, sleep and resilience.
And sometimes, the first step is simply giving yourself a week to pause, nourish yourself differently and see what you notice.
The Autumn 7-Day Nourish Reset starts 21 September.
If you’re ready to start feeling more like yourself, I’d love to have you join us.

Afternoon cravings ?

They might not be about willpower

Cravings in midlife are often misunderstood.

Many women assume cravings are about willpower or “bad habits”.
But more often, they’re a reflection of what’s happening earlier in the day.

For example:
• Low protein at breakfast
• Long gaps between meals
• Highly refined or low fibre meals
• Stress affecting appetite regulation

By mid-afternoon, the body is simply trying to catch up.
This is where cravings for sugar, coffee and an excuse for quick energy often appear.

Not because something is wrong.
But because the body is asking for balance.

This is why I rarely focus on snacks as the main solution.

Instead, I work with women on the root cause:

• Balanced meals earlier in the day
• Adequate protein and fibre
• Nervous system support

All these are key for balanced blood sugar and hormones

When those pieces are in place, the constant urge to “snack to get through the day” often reduces naturally…
It becomes less about managing cravings,
and more about understanding why they were happening in the first place.

Do you notice a particular time of day when cravings tend to hit?

These are exactly the kinds of simple changes we’ll explore in the 7-Day Nourish Reset — learning how to nourish yourself differently and find a rhythm that works for you now.

Starts 21 September.

£57 for one place or £69 for two.

What used to work doesn’t anymore…

You might be eating well… yet still feel tired, foggy, or reaching for sugar by mid-morning.

Your old rules don’t work anymore.

Eat less.
Try harder.
Be more disciplined.
Push through fatigue.
Cut more foods.

Protein. Carbs. Fasting. Keto. Low fat. No sugar. Eat for your hormones...

There seems to be a new idea about healthy eating every week.

And what makes it even more frustrating is that what worked for you in your 30s or 40s may not work in quite the same way anymore.

It can leave you wondering if you've somehow failed.

But your body isn't the same anymore.

It’s not a willpower problem.

As hormones change, your body goes through a huge metabolic shift.

Blood sugar regulation changes.
Stress response changes.
Recovery capacity changes.
And your nutritional needs change too.

So the same old strategies can start to feel like they're working against your body rather than with it.

This is where many women get stuck.

Not because they're doing anything wrong.

But because they're still applying rules that no longer fit how their body functions now.

What tends to help instead is not more restriction...

But a return to steadier foundations.

Simple, consistent nourishment.
Enough protein and fibre.
More rhythm in the day.
Movement that supports your body.
Time to rest and recover.

Not a complete overhaul.
Not perfection.
Just a different way of supporting yourself.

And if you're not looking for another quick fix, but want an approach that works for you now, that's exactly what I've created the 7-Day Nourish Reset around.

A simple, food-first reset to help you pause, nourish yourself differently and gently rebalance your rhythm.

Early Bird £39 ends tonight, Monday 31 August.

If you're ready to try a different approach, you'll find the details via the link in my bio.

The little things really do add up.
We tend to think our health is determined by the big things.
The perfect diet.
The exercise programme.
The supplement regime.

But often it's the little things we do repeatedly that shape how we feel.
Skipping lunch because you're busy.
Reaching for something sweet because you're exhausted.
Sitting at your desk all day.
Staying up later because it's the only time you get to yourself.
None of these things matter very much once.

But what happens when they become the pattern?
The good news is that the opposite is true too.

A protein-rich breakfast.
A proper lunch.
A short walk.
A decent wind-down before bed.
Small things. Repeated often. They add up too.

Would you love to be part of a supportive community making positive changes together?
That's what the Autumn 7-Day Nourish Reset is all about.

Early Bird £39 closes Monday 31 August.
