Ever catch yourself clenching your teeth while driving, concentrating or scrolling? Or notice your jaw feels tired and your temples ache by the end of the day or when you wake up?
Clenching can happen without you realising, particularly when you’re stressed or focused. It can contribute to jaw discomfort and headaches.
A few gentle things to try:
• Let your teeth rest slightly apart when you’re not eating.
• Pop a reminder on your phone to check whether you’re clenching.
• Give chewing gum a break if your jaw is sore.
• Change position and take short breaks during long stretches at your desk.
You don’t need to hold a “perfect” posture or force your jaw to relax—think little check-ins throughout the day.
A sore jaw might be common, but you don’t have to just put up with it. If it keeps recurring, an assessment can help you understand what’s contributing.
