✨ Let's talk about repiercing ✨
There are lots of different scenarios where you might want to have a piercing replaced. Let's look at a few of them...
Fresh piercings - You've had a new piercing and it doesn't look quite how you expected, maybe the placement or angle look off. In the first instance talk to your piercer. There may be a reason it doesn't look right, or they may have just made an honest mistake! Sometimes it can be possible to remove the jewellery to repierce straight away, but often the piercing will need to heal before a repierce can be done. A new wound like this will heal very quickly, you can usually come back in a few weeks.
Failed piercing - You've had it pierced before but it didn't heal so you took it out. We can take a look at repiercing but we should first try to pinpoint what went wrong the last time. Maybe tweaking aftercare, slightly adjusting placement or better jewellery choice. The old channel would usually need a few months to heal before repiercing the same area.
Lost jewellery - it happens to us all, your jewellery has somehow managed to escape and now your piercing has closed. But has it closed? If the piercing is new, get to your piercer asap to see if they can get some jewellery back in.
Old piercing - you took the jewellery out years ago and would like it repiercing. Again, ask your piercer to have a look. Sometimes a piercing that had previously healed and matured may not have fully closed, often they can be tapered back open. Because old channels don't always close, it's important if you are not happy with a piercing you've had done to address the issue before it matures.
Healing is not linear or an exact science. If in doubt, ask your piercer for advice 💜
