A look behind the scenes at the Gamston Lock! 🍽️

Learners from our Nottingham site and The Archer recently visited The Gamston Lock for a Marston's Insight Day, hosted by Todd Lockley, Community Manager at Marston's.

Todd gave our learners a tour of the pub before leading a series of activities exploring the skills Marston's looks for in its employees.

The activities also encouraged learners to recognise those same skills in themselves and consider how they could apply them in the workplace.

The autumn weather isn't stopping our travel training! 🍂🚌

Our WayFinder learners have been wrapping up warm and getting out and about, continuing their travel training despite the colder weather.

A few extra layers might be needed this time of year, but we're still making the most of every journey! 🧥💜

Courtney has been putting her kitchen skills into practice at Greene King's The Lord Ted! 👩‍🍳

As part of her Supported Internship with WayFinder WorkConnect, Courtney has been gaining valuable experience in a busy working kitchen, preparing and cooking food while developing her confidence and practical skills.

Courtney has been building on the skills she's developed at The Archer, and it's great to see her continuing to progress in a professional hospitality environment.

Greene King visited Mapperley Park House in Nottingham for a day with our learners.

The team toured the college, spent time in The Bistro and spoke with learners about Supported Internships and the opportunities available with Greene King.

Our learners also prepared and served lunch for the team, putting their hospitality skills into practice in The Bistro.

Thank you to the Social Mobility team for joining us and sharing their time and experience with our learners.

Courtney is getting ready to start her Supported Internship at The Lord Ted! 👏

She recently attended a Meet & Greet with the manager and team ahead of starting next week, where she’ll gain experience across both Front of House and Back of House roles.

Courtney has already achieved qualifications in Hospitality & Catering, Food Safety & Hygiene, Cellar Management and Manual Handling through her time at The Archer. 🍽️

She’ll continue spending one day a week at The Archer while developing her skills in the workplace.

For the past 10 years, WayFinder WorkConnect has been helping young people with SEND take their next steps towards employment. 💜

Following National Inclusion Week, we’re looking back at WayFinder’s first decade – the learners who have progressed into work, the employers who have created opportunities and the partnerships that have helped make it possible.

Since 2016, 138 learners have found employment through our Supported Internship programme.

Connor’s first day on his Supported Internship! 🍕

Connor got straight to work, preparing pizzas and toppings, portioning dough, using the pot washer and learning how to check food temperatures. 👨‍🍳

He made a brilliant start, showing confidence, initiative and enthusiasm while getting to know his new colleagues and workplace.

We’re looking forward to seeing how Connor progresses! 🙌
