It's getting to that time of year - colds and flu are doing the rounds. But how do you know the difference and what should you do? Read on to find out more ⬇️

Most symptoms can be safely managed at home. Rest, drink plenty of fluids, and use paracetamol or ibuprofen to ease aches and fever. Your pharmacist can advise on cold and flu remedies.

Antibiotics won’t help with colds and flu as they are viruses – time and self-care are best.

To stop the spread:
💉 get your flu vaccination if you are eligible
🧼 wash your hand regularly
😷 cover coughs and sneezes

We’re thrilled to announce the appointment of Dr Catharine Verity as our third salaried GP! 🥳🎉

Dr Verity was our registrar back in 2023 and fully qualified as a GP in December 2024. She’s been working steadily as a locum GP since then but had always one day hoped for a permanent home with us 🥹🏠

Dr Verity will consult all day Monday and Tuesday as well as Thursday mornings.

We can proudly say that the cattery is open for business again! 😂🐈‍⬛🐈💚

✨ A LEGEND HAS LEFT THE BUILDING ✨

Dr Sayers has now officially retired - and we couldn’t let her go without a fuss! She will forever be the dancing queen of our hearts 👑💃🏼🪩💚

Patients registered with Dr Sayers have now been automatically transferred to Dr Catherine Spilsbury. You are still welcome to book an appointment with any GP, however! 🩺💊🗓️

We’re still collecting messages for her guest book until December. Please stop by reception if you’d like to leave a kind word or two 🥰🖋️

✨ DEAR DR SAYERS ✨

We’re sad to announce that Dr Janet Sayers will be retiring at the end of September after an incredible 30 years with the practice 😢

She started with us as a locum GP back in 1996 - and just never left! 😂 She became a GP Partner in April 1997 and, alongside her colleagues, became responsible for the running of the practice as a business - no mean feat! 😮

In her time here, she has seen a lot of change - not only in a medical sense but also within the practice team. She has been a prominent part of training future GPs in her role as GP Educational Supervisor as well as mentoring 4th year medical students 🌟 This legacy cannot be overstated and, in fact, her last trainee was our very own Dr Spilsbury! 🥰

She has never shied away from a challenge, with her catchphrase - “I’ll give it a go!”- frequently heard 😆 She has been a fountain of knowledge for all things skin-related; from sebaceous cysts to cystic acne, she has been our “resident dermatologist” and her input has been widely sought by patients and clinicians alike 🙌🏻☺️

To patients, Dr Sayers’ experience and candour have been invaluable. To us, she has been the beating heart of this place, rallying us to push ourselves whilst never forgetting the importance of teamwork. We know her absence will be felt greatly by the team here and our patients 💚

She is, however, ready to take on her next adventure with lots of exciting travel planned! 🌍✈️

Her official last day in practice will be Tuesday 29th September. If you would like to leave her a farewell message, we now have a guestbook at reception and we’d love as many of you to pop by as possible! 📖🖊️
