There's something magical about autumn at Forest School. From crunchy leaves underfoot to the sudden appearance of colourful toadstools, every session brings new opportunities to slow down, notice, and reconnect with nature. 🍂🍄✨

This month at Babes in the Wood, we're celebrating the arrival of autumn and sharing some beautiful toadstool photographs from our recent Torbay session. The forest is full of seasonal treasures right now, making it the perfect time to explore together.

For many parents, the constant noise of daily life, responsibilities and the mental load of caring for little ones can feel relentless. Out in the woodland, something shifts. The to-do lists become quieter, the pace slows, and there is space to simply breathe, rest and restore while spending time alongside others who understand the journey into parenthood.

Partners, supporters and older siblings are all welcome to join us around the fire for a warm drink, gentle conversation and some time in nature.

🍂 Autumn is here at Forest School! 🍂

As the seasons begin to change, we're heading back into the woods after our wonderful summer beach sessions. Join us this Friday 18th September, 11am to 2pm, at Leeford Woods, Knowle Hill, EX9 7AL for our first autumn Forest School session. Open to all those under the support of the Perinatal Team.

With the leaves starting to turn and nature changing around us, it's the perfect time to reconnect with the forest, explore, create, and enjoy the outdoors together.

Family members, friends, and support people are all welcome, and you can stay for as much or as little of the session as suits you.

We'd love to see you there! 🌿🍁

For our August Forest School, we're taking a little trip to the coast and turning Babes in the Wood into Babes on the Beach!

📅 Friday 14th August
⏰ Meet at 11am (we'll set off around 11:15am)
📍 Lime Kiln Car Park, Budleigh Salterton, EX9 6JD

Join us for a buggy-friendly stroll around the wetlands, followed by time together at Fifty Degrees North Coffee Hut on the beach.

👶 Open to all mums supported by the Perinatal Team, babies, older children, partners and extended family members.

🥪 Bring a picnic or grab something delicious from the coffee hut.

🚶 Walk duration: approximately 30–45 minutes (slightly longer if we get toddlers!).

We can't wait to see you there! 💙🌊☀️

Open to all families open to the perinatal team- partners, older children or other family members are very welcome too 🌲

🌟 Happy Retirement, Amanda Taylor! 🌟

Today we celebrate the retirement of our wonderful Service Manager, Amanda Taylor.

Amanda has been a constant source of support, guidance and encouragement to so many of us throughout her career. Her dedication, compassion and unwavering commitment to both staff and the people we serve have left a lasting impact that will be felt for years to come.

Whether offering wise advice, championing service improvements, or simply taking the time to listen, Amanda has made an incredible difference to countless colleagues and service users alike.

While we are sad to see her go, we are so excited for her as she begins this new chapter. Amanda, thank you for everything you have contributed, for the relationships you have built, and for the positive legacy you leave behind.

On behalf of everyone, we wish you a long, happy and well-deserved retirement filled with health, happiness, adventure, relaxation, and of course, plenty of cake! 🍰

Happy Father’s Day 💙

Today we celebrate dads, partners, and all the men supporting families through pregnancy and early parenthood. Your care, patience, and presence make a real difference — often in ways that aren’t always seen.

But we also recognise that Father’s Day can bring complex or painful feelings. Adjusting to a new baby, supporting a partner, navigating changing roles, or coping with sleep deprivation and uncertainty can feel overwhelming. For some, today may also bring thoughts of loss, difficult relationships, or longing to be a parent.

It’s important to say this — men’s mental health matters, especially during the perinatal period. If you’re finding things tough, struggling to cope, or feeling under pressure, you are not alone and support is available.

Today, we hold space for celebration and for the quieter, more difficult experiences that can come with this journey.

Take care of yourselves and each other 💙
