My glimmer today was having a few minutes to myself with a coffee uninterrupted! I drew a bijou size tile in the middle with and printemps behind. I used shading to make it pop between the layers. I love having a few minutes with my from and my trusty tomsstudio pens

My task this week as part of my course was to try out an online workshop from Hospital Rooms. There were so many to choose from but I went for a Wax Rubbing one by Harold Offeh. Although wax rubbing is something I’ve used in school I hadn’t combined the layering and watercolour before (or done it for myself rather than as a teaching activity) I opted for an autumnal colour pallet using leaves from my garden.

My glimmer was that my husband was curious about what I was doing and joined me in doing the activity. A relaxed way to spend time together.

As it’s October I’m taking part in Inktober. I’m following two Zentangle CZT’s on their different takes on it. This is my work in progress following Anica at Zen Linea • Anica Gabrovec Certified Zentangle Teacher with her I’m using it as an excuse to practise using water soluble pencils and I’m using which work amazingly with my with waterproof ink.

I’m loving the botanical tangles: Mago, Promise in Bloom, flory, classical lotus, harumachi, radix, salon, Ashenfleur and luma

My first day back at I can’t believe I’m going into my second year of MA in Arts Health and Wellbeing. I got to meet the new cohort of students who will be joining us this year and during the welcome session we were invited to be creative with a print on an anatomical drawing of a heart. Tangling took over!

My glimmer today was that, on my way home, I stopped off for some me time ullacombefarmshopandcafe a quiet hot chocolate and piece of cake whilst I tangled in my from Learn Bookbinding with an amazing view over the edge of Dartmoor. Just the headspace I needed.

I’ve had a go at the September bonus from Tangle Lab Anica introduced us to Leaf and Dart from Tangeln im Norden / Zentangle-Kurse

I used watercolour pencils to create a rainbow background to work on the conte pastels to add depth to the tangle to add depth.

Here my August Tangle Lab Phi tile. I really enjoyed being able to tangle along live, something I’m not always able to do with family and work commitments but the summer holidays gave me chance. That was definitely my glimmer for the day.

It was my first time working on an ogee grid and I loved exploring the different tangle suggestions.

Tangles used: ogee grid, fleavy, abundies, sister, ypsmi, icantoo

Materials used: Tom Gyr - Tom's Studio™ lumos mini, conte pastels

A slightly less bumpy bus journey back after a lovely day with two of my boys in Cambridge. As my boys listened to music and were antisocial, I got my Learn Bookbinding travellers notebook back out and revisited my wobbly lines from this morning. A reminder to myself that I used to do my homework on the bus when I was at secondary school, how my writing was legible I’m not sure! I really had to concentrate and pause if the bus jolted but there are no mistakes in Zentangle so those wonky and wobbly lines today are just part of my journey!
