** THURSDAY RESEARCH MEME**

Todays research meme relates to rider asymmetry. Rider symmetry is important: in a study by Gunst et al., it was reported when in sitting trot, the collapse of the rider in one hip increased the saddle force on the contralateral side. This asymmetric pressure distribution beneath the saddle will occur every stride cycle, which can then affect the horses locomotor pattern, reinforcing the importance of working with a team to improve rider symmetry “on” and “off” the horse. 🤓

We’ve had the rollers this week in Pilates! First time for many clients using it. We focused on mobility throughout the whole spine and stability, adding a stability challenge with the rollers through lots of our regular exercises. A great tool for injury prevention, posture, improving athletic performance in both horse riders and runners and an overall reset of our body positioning and posture.

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place, and in the sky,
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard among the guns below.
