These are some words that a client said to me a while ago that have always stayed with me...
“I keep having these moments of seeing and hearing ‘me’. So bizarre, like ‘Ah! There you are!’”
And I loved that because I think so much of the work I've done myself, and the work I now do with my clients is really about this.
Not becoming a better version of yourself.
Not fixing everything that's “wrong” with you.
But gradually being able to hear yourself underneath all the noise...
The shoulds, the overthinking, the need to keep everyone happy, the pressure to get everything right, the constant doing. The part of you that says you really should finish that one last thing before you stop.
Interestingly, I used almost exactly the same words in Sunday's masterclass, but this time I was talking about our patterns.
We explored what happens when you try to do something differently.
Closing the laptop, saying no, putting your phone down, resting or taking some time for yourself - that familiar feeling of resistance appears.
Rather than immediately fighting it, judging ourselves or thinking FFS, why am I doing this AGAIN?...
We can begin to notice it.
Ah. There you are.
I know this feeling. I know this urge to keep going. I know this need to get it right. I know this feeling that I should say yes.
And that's where something can begin to change.
Because the more we can recognise our patterns with curiosity rather than judgement, the more space we create between what we feel and what we do next.
And maybe the two versions of “Ah, there you are” aren't so different after all.
Because as we begin to recognise the patterns that have been making so many of our decisions for us...
We can also begin to hear ourselves underneath them.
What do I actually want?
What do I need?
What feels right for me?
What would I choose if I trusted myself?
And that is what we will explore together in Calm Collective.
Enrolment closes this Sunday, 4th October.
The goal isn't to find a new version of yourself.
It's to create enough space to hear the one who's already there.
