Receiving feedback like this means so much. 💜

Acupuncture can offer gentle, supportive care throughout a fertility journey, alongside conventional fertility treatment, with each session tailored to the individual and where they are in their journey.

It has been such a privilege to support this lovely patient alongside her IVF treatment, and I’m absolutely delighted to hear that both mum and baby are doing wonderfully.

Thank you for trusting me to be part of such a special chapter, and for allowing me to share your kind words.

If you’re navigating your own fertility journey and would like to find out how acupuncture may support you, please head over to my website www.mifengacupuncture.co.uk or feel free to drop me a message.

The points you can see being needled here are located on the abdomen.

In Chinese Medicine, abdominal acupuncture points can be chosen to help support digestion and the healthy functioning of the stomach and bowels.

My patient had been feeling stressed and unsettled so I chose these points to help calm and centre her mind and digestive system.

Depending on the individual, abdominal points may also be used for bloating, digestive discomfort, changes in bowel habits, or abdominal discomfort. Certain points in this area may also be selected to support women’s health and urinary or lower abdominal concerns.

But as with the point you saw in my post about the palm, acupuncture isn’t about one point fixing one problem. I look at what’s going on with you as a whole and choose a combination of points according to what your body is presenting at that particular time.

Each point has its own purpose, but together they form part of the bigger picture of your treatment.

If any of these symptoms sound familiar, or you’re simply curious to find out more about how acupuncture could support you, I’d love to hear from you.

The point you can see being needled in the middle of the palm is PC8, also known as Laogong.

In Chinese Medicine, PC8 is traditionally used to clear heat and calm the Shen-our mind and spirit.

My patient had been struggling with feeling overwhelmed, restless and finding it difficult to properly switch off, so PC8 was one of the points I chose as part of their treatment.

It can be a useful point when someone is experiencing restlessness, agitation, disturbed sleep, emotional tension or that feeling of being constantly ‘on’. It can also be used when there is heat or discomfort in the hands, as well as for certain symptoms affecting the mouth and tongue.

As with all acupuncture treatments, I’m not simply treating one symptom or choosing one point in isolation. I look at the whole person and the overall pattern their body is presenting, then choose a combination of points specifically for them.

Sometimes, a small point in the palm can be part of a much bigger picture.

If any of these symptoms resonate with you, or you’d simply like to learn more about how acupuncture may be able to support you, please head over to my website or feel free to send me a message below.

I’d be happy to chat and answer any questions you may have.

Why Is Pulse Taking Important in Chinese Medicine?

Pulse taking is an important part of a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) consultation. It’s not simply about measuring your heart rate or pulse rate.

I feel the pulse at three different positions on each wrist, and assess qualities such as its strength, depth, rhythm and texture. Each position is traditionally associated with different aspects of the body and its internal systems.

Alongside your symptoms, medical history, tongue, lifestyle and other observations, pulse diagnosis helps me build a more complete picture of your individual pattern of imbalance.

For me, this is one of the things that makes acupuncture so personal. I’m not just treating the symptom; I’m looking at you as a whole person and using all the information available to guide your treatment.

Your pulse provides another valuable piece of information, helping to build a fuller picture of your individual health and wellbeing.

If you would like to book a consultation or treatment with me you can do so via my website. You can also give me a call and I will get back to you as soon as I am able to.

Have you heard of ear seeds?

Ear seeds are a gentle form of auricular acupressure, where small seeds or beads are placed on specific points of the ear to provide gentle, ongoing stimulation between acupuncture treatments.

There are different types of ear seeds you may come across:
Vaccaria seeds – the traditional natural seed
Metal seeds – often gold or silver coloured
Crystal seeds – a beautiful option for those who like a little sparkle
Magnetic seeds – another modern variation

Whichever type is used, the important thing isn't simply the seed itself it's the point it's placed on and why.

In Chinese Medicine, the ear is viewed as a microsystem of the whole body, with different areas of the ear corresponding to different parts and functions of the body.

I may use ear seeds alongside acupuncture to continue gently stimulating specific points after you leave the clinic. You can simply press them gently when you remember, giving yourself a little moment of self-care.

I love that something so tiny can become a simple reminder to pause, breathe and connect with yourself.

Have you ever tried ear seeds? Please share your experience below.

Why I look at the whole you, not just your symptoms.

When you come to see me, I don’t just look at the symptom that has brought you through the door. Traditional Chinese Medicine sees the body as a whole, where everything is connected.

So I might ask you about your sleep, digestion, energy, stress, emotions, menstrual cycle, pain and general wellbeing. All these things can give me clues about what may be happening within your body.

I’ll also take your pulse, something that is an important part of Traditional Chinese Medicine diagnosis.

In Chinese Medicine, we don’t simply take your pulse to count your heart rate. I listen to the quality, rhythm, strength and depth of the pulse, using different positions on the wrist.

Your pulse can provide me with another piece of the picture, helping me understand patterns within your body and how your Qi, Blood, Yin and Yang may be functioning.

I also look at your tongue, ask questions and observe other signs, bringing all these pieces together to understand you as an individual.

For me, acupuncture isn’t simply about treating where it hurts. It’s about understanding you as a whole person and supporting your body towards greater balance and harmony.

Sometimes the place where you experience a symptom isn’t necessarily where the underlying imbalance begins.

This is what I love about Chinese Medicine, it gives me the opportunity to look at the whole person, rather than treating you as a collection of separate symptoms.

Every treatment is tailored to you, because no two people are the same.
