There's never a dull moment at Shaftesbury South East!

People we support enjoy the independence of living in self-contained flats, but there's also a real sense of community.

With a shared living room and garden, there's always somewhere to catch up, watch the football, play games or enjoy a meal together.

And judging by the smiles, there's plenty of laughter too!

James, who is supported by Shaftesbury North Wales, has become quite the expert when it comes to using technology!

Since learning to use an iPad during lockdown, James has developed the skills and confidence to independently explore his favourite apps, watch videos on YouTube and enjoy programmes on BBC iPlayer.

It's wonderful to see how technology can open up opportunities for greater independence and enjoyment in everyday life.

Missed our Shaftesbury Day celebrations?

Shaftesbury Day brought together people we support, colleagues and special guests to honour the legacy of our earliest founder, the 7th Earl of Shaftesbury.

Marking 141 years since his death and 200 years since he first became an MP, actors in Victorian costume brought his remarkable story to life beside the iconic Shaftesbury Memorial Fountain at Piccadilly Circus.

Catch up on all the celebrations and discover the highlights in our latest blog:

People we support and colleagues from across the organisation joined us at one of London’s most recognisable landmarks to celebrate Shaftesbury Day on 1 October.

The event was in honour of our earliest founder, the 7th Earl of Shaftesbury, marking 141 years to the day since his death and 200 years since he became an MP.

Lord Shaftesbury’s pioneering social reforms were brought to life with live performances from actors in Victorian costume against the backdrop of the Shaftesbury Memorial Fountain at Piccadilly Circus.

This iconic statue of Anteros (commonly referred to as Eros) was built in 1893 to commemorate Lord Shaftesbury’s legacy, symbolising his selfless public service and Christian charity.

Among the guests was our Vice-Patron, Nicholas Ashley-Cooper, the 12th Earl of Shaftesbury, who later lay a wreath in memory of his ancestor at Westminster Abbey.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make Shaftesbury Day such a memorable occasion.
