Today I chose to rest without guilt, and it felt good.

We can often feel guilty for resting when we finally find the time, as though we should always be doing something.

But rest isn’t wasted time. Your body needs those pauses. It needs space to slow down, recharge and catch up with itself.

So today, if you have the opportunity to pause, let yourself.

You don’t have to earn your rest.

A classic example of how something can serve a purpose for a season and then simply no longer serve you in the same way.

Over the last two days, I’ve noticed a change in my skin. It’s subtle, but enough for me to pay attention.

It has made me realise that perhaps it’s time to rethink what I’m using on my skin and begin a new routine.

This is a routine that has served me well for many years, but maybe it has simply run its course.

Sometimes, the answer isn’t that something was wrong. It’s just that our bodies change, our needs change, and what once worked beautifully may no longer be what we need.

So, I’m listening and making a shift.

What would you suggest I switch to?

A soft life isn’t about doing less for the sake of doing less. It’s about learning to stop fighting yourself in the process.

Knowing when to rest.
Knowing when to say no.
Knowing what deserves your energy and what doesn’t.
And, most importantly, being honest about what you actually have the capacity for.

You don’t have to earn rest.
You don’t have to feel guilty for protecting your peace.
And you don’t have to keep pouring from an empty cup.

Choose softness, again and again.
Repeat the process. 💕

Coming From A Place Of Love 💕

A gentle reminder to listen to your body and rest when it requests.

This morning’s devotion was about the gift of friendship.

It got me thinking about how much of a blessing the right people can be in our lives. The friends who pray for us, encourage us, make us laugh, tell us the truth when we need to hear it, and simply show up.

Friendship really is a gift and one worth being grateful for.

I’m thankful for the people God has placed in my life, and for the reminder this morning to never take those friendships for granted.

There are times when we can become so focused on pleasing the people around us that, without even realising it, we begin to lose ourselves.

For me, these are some of the things that help me stay grounded in who I am.

I don’t take on what others think of me. I know who I am, and I’m comfortable with that.

I don’t feel the need to constantly explain myself. If I know my intentions are good, I don’t need everyone to understand my choices.

I don’t allow other people’s opinions to dictate my decisions. I have to make the choices that are right for me and my life.

Not everything I’m working towards needs to be shared. Some dreams, plans and goals are better kept close to my heart until the time is right.

I don’t feel the need to change who I am to fit in. And I’ve learned that sometimes, certain places simply aren’t meant for me — and that’s okay.

There is something powerful about being comfortable enough with yourself that you no longer feel the need to be accepted everywhere.

Protect your peace. Know who you are. And don’t lose yourself trying to be everything to everyone.

I honestly believe that what we speak into the universe matters.

Somewhere along the way, I’ve found myself approaching life very differently.

I’ve discovered that being kinder to myself has given me permission to pause and recognise the things that no longer deserve my attention or energy.

Lately, I’ve noticed how often I use the phrase, “I don’t have the capacity.”

Just yesterday, while having a conversation with a neighbour, he mentioned that my tone has become a lot softer.
I agreed with him and explained that it’s part of my new approach to life.

The truth is, since embracing the phrase “I don’t have the capacity”I’ve started to move through life differently.

I’m learning that choosing myself doesn’t mean I care any less about others. It simply means I’m becoming more mindful of what I give, where I give it, and whether I have the capacity to give it at all.

My point is this: be mindful of what you are pouring into yourself.

The words we repeatedly speak to ourselves can become the way we see ourselves, and eventually, the way we experience our lives.

IF MENOPAUSE WAS A SCHOOL REPORT…

Student: Menopause
Year: Midlife
Attendance: Present… but not always sure why!

Overall Performance:
Shows great resilience but can be unpredictable.

Hot Flushes:
Has demonstrated an impressive ability to turn up the heat without warning. Frequently ignores instructions to “cool down.”

Sleep:
Could do better. Regularly stays awake when everyone else is sleeping and then complains about being tired the next day.

Mood Management:
Inconsistent. Can move from calm to thunderstorm with very little warning.

Memory:
Needs improvement. Frequently forgets why she walked into a room.

Concentration:
Easily distracted. Has occasionally forgotten what she was saying halfway through a sentence.

Patience:
Requires further development. Especially when someone says, “It’s probably just your age.”

Self-Care:
Making good progress. Beginning to understand that rest, boundaries and looking after herself are not optional extras.

Resilience:
Excellent. Despite the challenges, continues to show up and keep going.

Final Comment:
Menopause has had a challenging year, but she has shown remarkable resilience. With the right support, a little understanding and plenty of self-care, we expect her to continue developing into a confident and empowered version of herself.

Grade:
PASSED — with character development!
