On a Monday, it’s easy to feel pulled in every direction.
But you don’t need to carry the whole week at once.
Choose one intention. One gentle goal. One step that feels kind to your energy.

Starting small is still starting.
And sometimes, it’s the most powerful way to begin.

Sunday Reading

Sundays are often the one day we try to slow down — but even then, parenting doesn’t always give us the pause we need. If you’ve been feeling stretched, tired, or constantly “on,” today’s reading might be the gentle reminder you’ve been waiting for.

Our latest blog explores micro-breaks — tiny moments of rest that help reset your nervous system, reduce overwhelm, and make the day feel more manageable. You don’t need an hour. You don’t need a plan. You just need a moment.

A cup of tea you actually finish.
A breath you take with intention.
A minute where you soften your shoulders and let your mind settle.

Small pauses can make a big difference.

If you’d like to explore how micro-breaks can support your wellbeing as a parent, you can read more here:

Have you ever watched rain on a window…

…how each drop lands softly, then gathers, then slowly slides down the glass?

It looks gentle — but when you watch long enough, you see how constant it is.
How quietly it builds.
How heavy it can become.

Compassion fatigue often builds in the same way — slowly, silently, and without you noticing. Emotional strain accumulates drop by drop until you suddenly feel overwhelmed, depleted, or disconnected from your usual sense of strength.

How we help:
We gently interrupt that build‑up and support the relief of compassion fatigue by offering structured space to pause, process, and reset. Through supportive listening, Havening® techniques, and reflective coaching, we help reduce emotional overload and restore balance.

If you’re experiencing compassion fatigue and want to understand more about how we can support you, you can find further information here:

That’s burnout talking, not your worth.

What’s the difference between therapeutic parenting and traditional parenting?

To support parents, one of the first things we look at is the strategies they use to parent their child and the difference between therapeutic and traditional/standard parenting.

Becoming a parent changes you.

Your identity, relationships, emotions, expectations and sense of self can all shift as you begin to navigate life as a parent.

Matrescence is the term traditionally used to describe the transition into motherhood — but the wider experience of becoming and adapting to parenthood matters for all parents.

At Coect, we want to create space for parents to talk about these changes — whether they became parents through birth, adoption, kinship or fostering.

Because supporting parents isn’t just about teaching parenting skills.

It’s about recognising the person behind the parent, understanding the transition they are going through, and creating space for connection, reflection and support.

Matrescence matters. And so does the wellbeing of every parent.

If you’re caring for a child who has experienced trauma, this may sound very familiar.

You’re constantly thinking about their needs, managing difficult moments, staying alert to what might happen next — and somehow, you’re expected to find time to look after yourself too.

But what if you genuinely don’t have the time?
Many of our clients ask us this exact question when we first work together.
That’s why we don’t start by asking you to find an hour for yourself every day.

We start with 5 minutes.
Small, manageable breaks throughout the day can become a new habit — giving your nervous system a chance to pause, rather than expecting you to simply “keep going”.

Combined with the psychosensory technique Havening, this can help interrupt the cycle of compassion fatigue and reduce symptoms such as overwhelm, emotional exhaustion and brain fog.
You don’t need to have everything figured out before you start looking after yourself.
Sometimes, the first step is simply finding 5 minutes.
