"But when I strength train I make my niggles worse."

It sounds like you need some help, because you know that strength training is what you need long term to support your running.

But despite this you keep ignoring it because running is your No.1 priority & jeopardizing that is a big deal.

I can help you!

Understanding the root of your niggle(s) through an individual assessment is optimal but perhaps it's a simple knowledge gap that applied correctly would enable your strength training to support, not hinder, your running.

We will address this during a small group strength session, specific for runners. I'm in the planning phase & would love your help to shape the right session.

Head to the link in my bio to complete a short questionnaire & her priority access to one of just SIX spots when the class goes live.

September is a terrible month for a birthday when you have kids, so any plans for a weekend away to celebrate this one usually get lost in the back to school chaos!

But this time we made it! 🎉

A child-free weekend spent biking the West Sussex hills fuelled by a lot of good food!

Highly recommend Woodfire Camping 🏕️ in Petworth. Absolutely incredible food, locally sourced, cooked over a fire & eaten wherever you like! Oh & as someone who is always a bit dubious of wooden structures for showers, I would go as far to say these were the best & hottest this year!

Any bike ride near Petworth had to include a refuel at Coppers Coffee House & Kitchen for coffee, pastries & cake. Brunch next time it looked amazing!

Drinks & lunch at Noah's Ark Pub in Lurgashall whilst watching some village cricket.

Then 10 miles back to the campsite!

Happy birthday Hubby! ♥️

If you're a runner who avoids weights because you're terrified of "bulking up" or getting heavy, save this video now.

❌ Most people think muscles contract as one block.

However, physiologically your muscles are broken down into mini-squads called motor units.

💡These units contract fully, like a light switch without a dimmer, a unit is either ON or OFF.

Therefore, your brain selects enough units for every task.

🏃🏼When you run it cycles through the units used most often - the trained ones.

It uses the switches actively connected to the grid.

💡💡💡Strength training connects more switches to your grid!

Sharing the load between motor units YOU ALREADY HAVE!

Just here to say you rock.

Rehabbing an injury is HARD.

Injuries are rarely caused by one single "thing." I know that when you come to see me, you’re looking for a diagnosis and a reason. Trust me, I’m looking for them too!

BUT, I’m not just looking for a physical source.

Sure, a muscle can be short or weak. Your training might need an overhaul (since most injuries happen when load outweighs capacity), but that is only half the picture. Your body isn’t a machine made of static parts; it’s a metabolically active system.

It is a set of cells responding to a cocktail of hormones and enzymes influenced by:

💤 Sleep (or the lack of it)

🌮 Nutrition

💦 Hydration

😩 Stress and environment

🫂 State of mind and friendships

We have solid evidence that mental and physical well-being are inextricably linked. You cannot fix one while ignoring the other.

So if I could encourage you to do one thing to help your body recover from injury, it would be to look at yourself as a whole, not just focussing on your physical injury.
