There's nothing quite like getting everyone together and doing something a little different!

Whether it's a family get-together, a day out with friends, a club outing or a special occasion, why not come and enjoy some time on the canal?

Our accessible canal boats offer a lovely way to spend time together, enjoy the beautiful Essex and Hertfordshire scenery and have a good catch-up along the way.

We welcome all sorts of groups and want everyone to feel comfortable and included when they come aboard.

Our boats can accommodate up to 10 or 12 people, so why not get everyone together and make a day of it?

We've been introducing the features of our new accessible electric canal boat, Amply Accessible, so here's another interesting feature of our new boat: joystick steering.

Alongside the conventional tiller, the boat has a joystick control system, offering another way to steer. This has been included with the aim of allowing passengers of different abilities to take part in steering the boat, where appropriate.

It's one of the features we'll be exploring further as our volunteers undertake training and become familiar with the boat and its controls.

There's still work to do before we welcome clients on board, but we'll keep you updated along the way.

🌿 Nature means different things to different people.

For some, spending time near the water, listening to birds or watching the trees move in the breeze can be a lovely way to slow down. For others, being outdoors might not feel relaxing at all — and that's okay too.

Research exploring autistic adults' experiences of nature reminds us that we all experience the world differently. What one person finds calming, another might not enjoy, and we shouldn't assume that the same things work for everyone.

Sometimes, it's about having the freedom to enjoy things in your own way.

With the excitement of welcoming our new electric canal boat, Amply Accessible, to our base on the Herts/Essex border, we thought it was time to start introducing some the features and the details of what's on board.

Today, we're taking a look inside the passenger cabin.

The cabin has been designed to feel light and airy, with low hopper windows and air conditioning that provides cooling in the summer and heating during the colder months.

Before we welcome clients on board, our volunteers will need to complete training to make sure they're confident using the boat and all its features. In the meantime, our other accessible boats are available for bookings, so there's no need to wait to enjoy a trip on the water!

Last year, residents and staff from Beane River View Care Home in Hertford enjoyed an unforgettable trip with CanalAbility on the River Stort, filled with laughter, beautiful views and the chance to steer the boat and help with the locks!

We've recently welcomed our new electric canal boat, Amply Accessible, to our base on the Herts/Essex border, so we thought it was time to start introducing some the features and the details of what's on board.

At 56 feet long, the boat and has been designed specifically with river use in mind. There's quite a lot to talk about, from the electric propulsion system to the accessibility features and the facilities on board.

Before we welcome clients on board, our volunteers will need to complete training to make sure they're confident using the boat and all its features.

In the meantime, our other accessible boats are available for bookings, so there's no need to wait to enjoy a trip on the water!

We'll be sharing more about the new boat over the coming weeks, so keep an eye out for updates.
